Dare I suggest that he polled in more games than any other medallist?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

When I first read this thread I thought the next line was going to read "dud to win a Magarey".
Im glad it wasn't as I would have argued Greg Whittlesea would have given him a run.

No; he polled votes in 9 matches - 7 2nd preference, 2 3rd preference (Total 16).

Russell Ebert holds the record, with 16 matches in 1976 - 10 1st preferences, 6 2nd preferences (Total 42)

The least amount of matches that a player has polled votes in to win the Medal from 1945 was Dave Boyd in 1956 and Gary Window in 1965 - 6 matches.

Wedgie, not sure what the  means but pre 89 Whittlesea was a terrific player for sturt and the state.

I can understand people bagging him if he won a magarey after his trip to Hawthorn but no before hand.

If anything Whittlesea was a better player than Antrobus...

Not even close mate.
Ant could kick like Darren Jarman, handpass and elude like Andrew Jarman and had unbelievable pace to boot.
Ironically because of his size the only thing people might have said about the Ant is he wasn't a bit overhead mark and he ended up taking the best mark in Australia in 1984.
The Ant had everything except for a tolerance to people that hit him. :?
Saying Whittlesea was a better player than Antrobus would be like saying Im a better player than Barrie Robran.
Ridiculous to say the least.

Whittlesea was a trier, I'll give him that.
