Perhaps I need both a manager and a file manager. ;)

54.5% of Elimination finallists have made the finals the next year - 36 out of 66.

Spelly, I know this doesn't relate to elimination finals but how many times has the loser of the Qualifying final gone out in straight sets? I reckon its more than 50%.

19 out of 33 times - 57.6%
9 lost the Preliminary
5 times they have made the Grand Final - 1973, 1976, 1979, 1983 and 2005
Only Sturt in 1976 has won the flag out of that.

Not good really.

as 55.6% of all teams make the finals every year!

Therefore by making the elim final you lessen your chances of being in the finals the year after!

Now that Spelly has proven that Sturt are actually LESS likely to make the finals next year because they "only" made the elimination final......

Mr Check, what is the % of teams that play in the first semi final that make the top 5 the year after?

Thanks.

Not quite correct there. For most of the time there was a 50% chance of making the finals so you would need to take into account when deciding whether a team is more or less likely to make the finals again the next year.
