There is an article in the Sportsbeat this week that touches on some of the fondest memories from the 80's.

Some of the things that came up were Club yoyo's, the plush team mascots, replays on saturday night on channel 7 etc...

One of my favourites were the team jumpers with the channel 7 logo on them, I won a magpies one in primary school through the old tv guide (the little one) that used to come in the Sunday Mail.

Was there anything that you loved about the good ol' days?

Living in Victoria throughout those years, we used to find the Football Park 'horn' funny. It was nothing like the sirens we had (and still have) in the VFL/AFL.

To hear that unusual "beeeeeeeeeeep" echo over Footy Park is a vivid memory of the Origin matches, just like the live coverage of the WA v Victoria matches which started at 4.30pm on a week day.

Those two memories just brought a tingle to my spine!

I loved that you could buy SANFL gear in the shops..i.e coffee mugs etc etc. Loved that we
had legends come to our school like Rick Davie, and have a kick and a chat...
Loved that I was the only Glenelg kid at a school that was in a Sturt zone...

Live reserves match of the day telecast every Saturday. Watch the first couple of quarters, then head down to the oval and see the end of the game live!

Watching the mini-league on TV the week after you played.

Having to swap guernsey's with the "star" of the team, so the commentators called your name instead of theirs!

The 'car siren' at Football Park either changed before the start of 1992 or 1993.

I thought it gave a unique touch to the Crows in 1991 and resulted in little kids in Victorian streets going "beeeep" instead of "baarrrrrrrrrr" when starting off their street footy games!

The Channel 9 Football School. Used to have some of the best SANFL players taking classes, last one I went to was held on Max Basheer Reserve. Dean Mobbs was one of the "teachers" - great bloke and a lot of fun.

i think the jingle went something like this:
magpies warble roosters crow
amscol footy colours have get up and go
ten teams together and heres a surprise
amscol footy colours will be in the five

All your schoolmates wearing their duffle coats (those whose parents could afford one) to school after a win. At my primary school (Seacliff) almost everyone was Glenelg but in my class there was a feral scum supporter who used to wear his too much to all the insults his deservedly received from everyone.
