100 goals in consecutive seasons IIRC for Grenville would see him in for mine ... Jim West was a very good Full Forward in 1 season at Norwood but I can't remember if he did well for the Bays up forward?

Yep but back then 100 + goal seasons was realtively common plus in big games he didn't produce. for mine Grenville is a good full forward not a great one.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If you're thinking of inlcuding Jim West then you have to include Robbie Walter

reviewing MLs list further and using the category great not good this is my list.

Sturt
Greenslade
Whelan
Davies
Chambers

North
Sachse
Roberts

Woodville
Blight
Pierson

Port
Evans
Hodges

West
Luders
Pierson

Glenelg
Freddy Phillis

Norwood
Roberts

All except Pierson Blight and Chambers are premiership players (SANFL premierships) Chamber gets a gig becuase of teh modern style of game to kick 100 now is the equivalent of 150 in the 80s IMO, Piersen for kicking golas at two struggling clubs (when he was there) and Blight because he is/was Blight.

No way I'd rate him in the same breath as the greats mentioned, but would have thought a topic titled "Favourite Full Forwards" would have meant I was allowed to like him?

FF for the Bays in the very early '80s but didn't have a very long career ... IIRC kicked around 80 goals in '80.

He came from Border Downs Football Club (out Coonalpyn way) down to Adelaide in the early 80's.

This is just my opinion, but i would actually rate Grenvilel D (and Mandemaker for that matter) above Chambers.

Thought Chambers played in 2002, but mainly out of a pocket as second-fiddle to Stephen White?

to me all those players a are good not great.

The only other one I'd consider would be Mandemaker.

Grenville Dietrich was a great full forward - you don't kick the ton two seasons straight in a very strong SANFL back then and other than Ken Whelan, he had an amazing leap considering how big he was and he took some absolute screamers. Had he not gone of the rails halfway through 1986 he would have bagged another ton that year. He had an amazing sequence of big bags of goals early in the season which saw him selected for SA.

Grenvilles only issue was his self discipline but he has to be considered a great FF.

IIRC, he kicked 48 goals in the first six games.

Saw him dominate Port at Prospect.

Should've bagged 11-12 goals that day.

But didn't have his kicking boots on.

He was probably sober...

Yeah, I know 'Timberdick' was a half forward flanker, but his goal ability, especially
well over 50 metres, added up to tallies many full forwards can only dream of.
