I think the problem with trying to do rankings according to this type of formula is that it doesn't give due weight to a premiership.

One example i could give is a club could win 7 premierships in 16 years, and finish bottom every other year, and a club could lose 16 consecutive GF's (and therefore finish 2nd every year) yet still rank first (according to this formula) without a premiership.

If we're going to take into account premierships in any ranking perhaps we should allocate bonus points? Would we also give extra credit for making finals or avoiding spoons? Whatever system you come up with Port should be top for at least another few weeks with the dogs right behind them, then a small gap to the eagles with the others a reasonable amount further back.

How about:

- 1 point for a minor round win
- 2 points for a win in a final (excl GF)
- 3 points for a GF win
In between signatures .....

OK - 1,000,000 points for a merge

I reckon also 1,100,000 points for a supporters protest march down Prospect Road
