Ryder and Franklin are certain.

Ok like i said i didnt study overly hard replace Ryder and Franklin with Roughead and Jolly

I guess thats more embarrasing a WA side would probably be more competitive than SA then, especially if they had a Franklin, Ryder, Sandilands, Cox etc etc.

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

backline could also include mattner, grundy, patfull.
small forwards could use a lindsay thomas or could almost stretch it to include eddie betts.
maybe even give some of the young guns like tapscott, redden or hartlett a run.
would be a hard task but don't think we would get smashed.

Mackie, Didak, Cooney and Lake can hardly get a touch in their own teams, let alone against the best of the best. SA would get absolutely pasted.

SA V VIC state of origin 1987

Postby bayman » Thu May 26, 2011 10:38 pm

did anyone watch it on fox last night ?

here's a few amazing things i watched & didn't know

1, the first half (well the 2nd quarter as that's when i started watching it) a red footy was used & after halftime a yellow footy was used

2, i would never ever have believed that peter bubner outmarked gary ablett, he did

3, littlebayman found it amazing that mark mickan played footy

4, tony lockett went into the ruck & got victoria back in the game & almost won it for them

5, kevin 'hungry' bartletts commentating & comments, i have never heard such a biased parochial call ever, it was disgracefulespecially given the fact that the tv was broadcasting to at least the both states that competed on that night

for the record we won by 4 points (as we started watching it i told littlebayman that the margin was 4 points but i wasn't sure which team won)

did anyone else watch it ?
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Fud got 6 and Bradley ran amok and got the Fos Williams medal. Great night. Still one of my favourite football memories. NOTHING beats beating the Vics on the MCG. 8)

It wasn't red, it was an "oily", darkish yellow ball, nowhere near the brightness of footballs these days.

Might be wrong, but I don't think the ABC telecast went to SA, just Seven's.

I recorded it and have watched the 1st half only.

-Naley (on fire in the 2nd qtr), McDermott and Rendell leading the way for SA
-SA defenders on top of a very handy Vic forward line which included Lockett, Ablett, Brereton, Osborne, Barwick.
-forwards staying in position!
-seemingly much less jumper grabbing in marking contests
-players generally putting in a big effort to knock the ball out of packs
-overall though a pretty scrappy game in fairly heavy conditions

Ball takes the cake.

In 1986, I remember being outraged that Scott Salisbury got rubbed out for, IIRC, two weeks for belting a dirty Vic, who got off scott free.

A few months later...

that was a great tackle on ando!!

3 things TSG,

brereton was a seasoned footballer who made a reputation from belting blokes. not a kid trying to make his way in the game.

he also through the first punch/headbutt.

he wasnt stretchered off.

very silly of you to make such a comparison but totally expected.

So your comment of "Injured player = no go zone" as from the thread about Cornesy just depends on other factors? You've been caught out, my friend.
