I'd say Jack Dyer probably wasn't around to see Darren Jarman.

Jack died in 2003, and Darren Jarman had retired by then.

I'll do my G & H teams as well before I give it away tonight :)

The H team has some fantastic players in it. I never realised how many quality midfield players' surnames began with H.

The G Team
F: Tom Garland, Frank Golding, Tom Gibbons
HF: Michael Graham, Tony Goodchild, Paul Garnett
C: Kevin "Sam" Gallagher, Lyle Griffin, Phil Gallagher
HB: Alan Greer, Alan Galloway, John Graham
B: Don Gilbourne, Ralph Green, Alan Giles
Ruck: Michael Gregg, Chris Gowans, Tim ginever
Reserves: Malcolm Greenslade, Tony Giles, Trevor Grimwood, James Gowans, Ross Gibbs, Randall Gerlach

Coach: Frank Golding
Captain: Frank Golding
Vice Captain: Don Gilbourne

The H Team ... and what a team it is!!
F: Glynn Hewitt, Scott Hodges, Ned Hender
HF: John Halbert, Harold Hawke, Lindsay Head
C: Henry "Dick" Head, Bob Hank, Shine Hosking
HB: Neville Hayes, Jack Hamilton, Don Hewitt
B: Lindsay Heaven, Ray Hunt, Herber "Jim" Handby
Ruck: Ian Hannaford, Arch Hosie, Kym Hodgeman
Reserves: Ray Huppatz, Bob Hammond, Tony Hall, Albert Hawke, Alexander "Pat" Hall, Darel Hart, Daryl Hicks.

Coach: Shine Hosking
Captain: Shine Hosking
Vice Captain: Bob Hank

** Spelly, I noticed on your list you have listings for Herbert Handby and Jim Handby. It is the same player, and he played for both Glenelg and South Adelaide.

Exactly. That's how good this team is. When I started it, I felt sure Tony Hall would find a place somewhere. Maybe you could argue a spot on the half back flank in place of Don Hewitt. The other one I struggled with is Lindsay Heaven or Eddie Holland for the back pocket.

Neville "Chicken" Hayes - the King of the Bunny Chop. I'd almost forgotten him.
[Yes Norwood had one too - Peter Brenchley from St Kilda.]

My contribution: The best team of Smiths to play in the SANFL. From a rich field of about 75 entries I was able to narrow the eventual team down as follows.

F: Smith Smith Smith
HF: Smith Smith Smith
C: Smith Smith(C) Smith
HB: Smith Smith Smith
B: Smith Smith Smith
1R: Smith(VC) Smith Smith
int: Smith Smith Smith

Coached by Smith, naturally....

Not bad, but I'd switch Smith from the wing to half forward and maybe play Smith on the bench.

Tell me more about the Bunny Chop. I never saw Brenchley play and only saw the end of Hayes' career, so they'd obviously eradicated the problem by then.

A traditional country way of killing a rabbit was to hit it on the back of the neck just below the base of the skull with the hard edge of the palm of your hand - a karate technique used even before karate was known by name in this country. Both of those players used it surreptitiously when running alongside a player or spoiling a mark.
