Norwood have taken a few over the years, in addition to those already mentioned. (I'd forgotten that Paul Weston briefly played for us!) Haven't given so many away to other SANFL clubs.

Jim West from Glenelg to Norwood. Much like Rocky Roberts, wanted a flag; and much like Rocky, the plan worked perfectly.
Haydn Bunton Jr from North to Norwood (non-playing coach for one year, playing coach for one) to North Tas FA to Norwood (playing coach) to WAFL to Norwood (still playing coach) to WAFL again to South Adelaide (non-playing coach) to Sturt (ditto). Phew!
Rodney Pope from West to Norwood
Bruce Winter from Sturt to Norwood (and going on to coach WWT)
Frank Stemper from Woodville to Norwood

Must have been a defender thing back then, hey? However, there was one defender we gave up:
Stephen Kerley from Norwood to North.

Then of course there are the olden-day players.
Anthony Daly was exceedingly well-travelled, playing for 5 clubs in an era where there were only between 4(!) and 7 teams in the comp in any one year: Norwood to West Torrens to West Adelaide to South Adelaide to North Adelaide. Whereas brother John D. Daly was far more restrained, moving from Norwood to West only 'cos he was forced to. Both were champions in their day.

McAlmanac, what was the story behind Meuret leaving Woodville to go to West? A brilliant footballer, did he struggle with the Peckers, or offered more money with the Wolves?

I believe he struggled with the Peckers. It was the days of Oberon Pirak at Richmond, so maybe he was coaxed. He only played 5 games with the Peckers, so it may have been a case of coaxing. Remember, Westies were rock bottom at that stage.

I reakon getting sacked by Wayne Stringer had more to do with it.

Add Dexter Kennedy (West->Port in search of a flag) to the list.

He was like the youngest player ever to front up for a senior SANFL game or something like that wasn't he?

Correctus nervada.

Debuted at age 15, 11 months and 2 days on May 9 1970... at the oval of the team to which he eventually defected.

I would hardly call Culpitt or Butcher, established SANFL stars/players.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

And I think when he suited up he beat another West Adelaide player in Alby Lawn 40's or 50"s by a few days only, but will stand corrected

Meuret played for Woodville in 1973. That season Woodville finished 8th and West Adelaide were 10th.

However, Meuret didn't play for West Adelaide until 1976, I'm not sure where he was in 1974 and 1975. I believe he was traded for a player named Ken Deards.

At the end of 1975, Woodville were 9th and West Adelaide were 6th.

I may have this wrong but wasn't he a Broken Hill boy and he went back there between Woodville and West?

According to Fullpointfooty, Meuret transferred to West Adelaide after playing only 5 games in 3 seasons for Woodville. I don't think this is correct because I'm pretty sure he wasn't at Woodville in 1974, 1975. You may be right LL, I know he was originally from Broken Hill. He may have gone back there for 2 years.

Why is it most (if not all) of Port's "greats" were poached from other clubs? :)
