Well he is wrong and typically ignorant. There are quite a few Dan Moriaty and Ken Farmer are two that spring to mind for starters!

Yeah, pretty sure Hank and Head are too. Perhaps he means "legends"?

True - but if that is the case then Farmer certainly should have been elevated to Legend Status by now! Would be nice to have two Rooster greats as Legends!

True - but if that is the case then Farmer certainly should have been elevated to Legend Status by now! Would be nice to have two Rooster greats as Legends!

And 3 other rooster greats should be members of the Hall of Fame. Tom Leahy, Ian McKay and Don Lindner.

It is a disgrace that the first two in particular aren't members. When Mike Coward and Geoff Kingston did their list of the 40 greatest SANFL players of the first 100 years they rated Leahy number 5 and McKay number 11. I know that it is only two men's opinion, but they would have done a lot of research, more than I believe the selectors for the Hall of Fame do.

Leahy was considered the best ruckman in Australia for over a decade and McKay had a fantastic record at State level, especially standing AFL legend John Coleman. It almost seems as though McKay has been burdened by his famous mark as though it was a one off, when he used to do it regularly. A full back winning the Magarey Medal was unprecedented.

On 360 tonight, they said that later tonight, they would be showing the HOF presentations from last night.

Robbo and Whateley mentioned that Davies gave quite a witty and entertaining speech.

Seriously how good was it last night and his interview on 5AA. Absolute gold.

We've got to get McIntosh up for nomination. Hopefully he buys a new pair of thongs for the night though. More Comedy and a perplexed Gerald Whateley

Seriously though Bagshaw deserves to be nominated next from SA. Smooth mover 340 games, B&Fs. All Australian, State Games, 7 premierships the list goes on

Question for Sturt fans - Part of Jumbo's great speech included "Th club was so divided back then and has probably never recovered" in reference to the late 1980's.

I know how much the cub struggled after that until Carman and Phillips and a slew of quality young players got them back to being a force onfield, but does the club still feel effect's of what took place back then?

I interviewed Rick in 2008 for my first ever published article in the SANFL Budget. Some of the stories he told me that happened back in the 70's were hilarious but could not be printed. The story of the 76 Grand Final in what Jack said before the game made good copy but I had to tidy it up for the magazine. Was more than generous with his time for the article re:the rivalry between the big four during the 70's - 80's (Sorry North Supporters you weren't part of it).
I remember him saying that all week you prepared yourself for those big games with the big crowds as you wanted to do so well in them.
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Just watched it myself
As a Norwood player I always hated him but was in awe of what he could do
As a PAOC man, I played under him and what a great bloke he was, and still is today.
As a father, he coached my son in primary school, and taught them how to handball: "Top of the cock son, top of the cock"

Legend :supz:

Has anyone played a better game than Davies did in the '76 grand final?

He was always funny on 5AA, too.

Got into all sorts one time when he made a crack about Belinda Clark, the former captain of the Australian women's cricket team, and her lady mo.

It was the hairy elephant in the room!

The other panelists tried not to laugh. Rarely heard him on AA after that, unfortunately.

Congrats Jumbo!

Mmmmm, I'm of the opinion that we would've won a flag if Keane was left in charge. When he left and Darryl Smith, Popplestone and one other of note left (Dilena?), it was the start of the end IMO. We went from a team that was becoming a powerhouse to being the laughing stock of the SANFL. And for periods of time we've got to the top (or close enough to it), but the consistency has stopped us from staying there.

Personally, I don't think the club has ever recovered from the ridiculous decision to move Keane on.

It was Schache (RIP) that left as well, and he was probably the one that cost Sturt the most, when he left to go to Torrens.

I just looked it up, Dilena went to Fitzroy in 89, so we lost those three and Carl to Fitzroy. I'm sure there were more.
