Yes he was a gun at Broadview that bloke.

Mark Jones is without doubt one of the greatest football talents of all time
The guy was a freak
Alcohol and TABs were his favourite past time
Used to punt together at the Settlers Hotel until a few years ago

He had one big year kicked well over 50 goals
He was sponsored by a group of Norwood supporters for $$$ per goal that season
Thats why he kicked a stack of goals that year !

For the West supporters in particular, what happened to Adam Ansell?

Spent a brief time at Hawthorn after being drafted in '95 but don't know about after that.

Jones spent some time in the Riverland with Barmera-Monash.
Sure was a gun.

Pretty certain he played around that time BC.
Now I'm nervous, maybe he didn't???
Might have to make some checks of some old budgets.

Also had a year at Central in the SANFL as well, back in the late 90's...

He won the Dogs leading goal kicker in the 1998 season, only kicking 26 goals but did show how much potential he had...

A real enigma and someone that could have been as good as he wanted, just wasn't to be...

Is this the same Damien Mellow? http://www.northernargus.com.au/news/lo ... 12037.aspx

How long did he stay at Norwood for after the Crows and where to from there? I remember seeing him in a pre-season internal trial of the Crows in about 1992 and he looked $1m.

Yep sure is the Damen Mellow from SANFL fame, ended up in Port Pirie as a school teacher and is still there I think. Played in Pirie for Ports, played in many flags and was a leading player in the start of a golden era, spent 4 years playing coach at Crystal Brook for 2 GF losses and a couple of prelim final losses, played this year for BSR in NEFL.

Yep. Sustained life-term injuries I believe - loss of balance, vision, headaches that sort of stuff.

Made a brief comeback. Amazing he even played again at such a high level.

Dominated in '95. Would've been a certainty for the Power's inauguaral squad.

Went back to WA with his wife at the end of '97...

I went out with one of his best mates circa 1992/1993 and he was still playing for Norwood then, was either just finishing or had just finished his teaching degree at that stage.

Think his wife (and her family) is from WA?

He played a few years with West Coast but struggled to get a game in that early-90s powerhouse.

Won the '92 Sandover for West Perth.
