Great Scans Magarey Legend - Could you have a look on P31 and post the umpires for the game?

Why the '74 Champions of Oz on the budget cover??? Obviously pic at Adelaide Oval.

I reckon I can recall a similar carnival at Footy Park with Richmond, Glenelg & Scottsdale all involved. IIRC - Sheedy went the biff there too.

Mark, in those days they only listed a squad of umpires. The number is not the number of the match, it is the number they would place on the board to tell spectators which umpire was allocated to the match.

If you check football budgets back in those days, you will always find a list of about 10 umpires.

Richmond won the League, Reserves and U/19 in 73. A fair effort. No wonder we saw a lot of ex Richmond Reserves players drift over to the SANFL in the 70's. Off the top of my head David Gurney (WA), Greg Hollick (WA), Ian Borchard (WA), Stephen Parsons (W), Stephen Hywood (G), Ken Crane (W).

Different point altogether, which team wore the clash guernsey in the Richmond v Glenelg game ;) I know there wasn't any clash guernseys back then before anyone says it. I am interested if it was just one wore black shorts, one wore white though.

Richmond wore normal jumpers, Glenelg wore all yellow jumpers with black numbers.

They also won the U/17's that year for as clean sweep in all 4 grades :supz: :supz:

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

And Greg Smith (NA) and Bill Nalder (Nd then CD). All three were sold to pay for Neville Roberts going to Richmond.
