We could start with spell_check's lists and go from there.

I've started to put some stuff back on the North page.

But what I can tell you is that the SANFL would have counted extra games from 1971 - the Coca-Cola Cup, and finished with the 1994 Foundation Cup Grand Final.

They also counted "Advertiser Cup" games from the early 1960s - this included games against Centrals and Woodville when they were only Reserves teams, and hence were very one-sided!

Hey guys.
I'm a Centrals supporter over in the UK at the moment and just need to know where I can find the total win/loss/draw stats for Centrals v each other club. Having a "discussion" with a friend. Where can I find this sort of thing online, or does anyone have such a table?!??!?

Also have to take into account games played during WWII.

Bob Quinn's 239 games is inflated by 54 games (or thereabouts) credited to him by the club when he was on the battlefield.

Wonder if this was a one-off or common practice?

I would hope that the SANFL told the AFL to take a flying leap. WTF does the AFL care how the SANFL chooses to keep records? Are they trying to decrease Ross Gibbs' tally even further?

FWIW, I agree that there ought to be a seperate "second class" category for night matches, trials et al. I just don't reckon it should be done solely to pander to the AFL.

For once I am actually on the side of the AFL!

If they trust the stats they get from the SANFL, they are more likely to publish SANFL records in the AFL yearbooks and elsewhere, which would help to give a not quite so biased Victorian view of the history of Australian Football.

I believe that the CD vs Glen record should be 52-50.

(This is from Spelly's records and what is going in the media guide, unless someone can prove otherwise!)

Someone ought to do a comprehensive SANFL stats site, stats.rleague.com does the job for AFL and NRL history so why can't there be something similar for SANFL history??? :?

I contacted the AFL media guide (M Lovett) during the season... They have no interest in SANFL records at all.

I cant wait for the SANFL media guide.... especially for the CORRECT head-to-head stats.

I find it interesting that the SANFL lets night games be full games for the purpose of player totals, but not for other records (i.e. the 2.x Central kicked against WWT in 1994 & the 1.x Sturt kicked against wtt in 1993).

Craig Bradley SHOULD be recognised as having played the most amount of senior games instead of Tuck but the niniety nine he played for Port don't count in the eyes of the AFL. They conveniently ignore the fact that the SANFL was towelling them in state of origin games around then and just ignore any SANFL games played as being in an inferior competition.

Typical of the brutal Stalinist regime the AFL run where only their brand of footy counts.

An outrage.

Surely 23-8-75 has to be wrong?

Thanks very much for that list, jim5112.

It enabled me to find proof that spell_check is actually human

The record is indeed 51-51 - the game which we had around the wrong way was round 14, 1991. I just checked the result from an old Advertiser and Glenelg did win 16.15 to 16.9, not the other way around which is what spelly had. Everything else agrees.

This will be corrected for the media guide.

All our other head-to-head records agree with doggy-base, so that means at least we can be 100% sure about the Centrals records now!

Hopefully the Football Budget will correct their head to head records this year - they somehow had Centrals at 53 and Glenelg at 48 before Centrals beat Glenelg in Round 23 last year???

The 51-51 Centrals - Glenelg record means that the next game between the two teams (Adelaide Oval, Round 3) takes on an extra significance.

If Centrals win, then it will be the first time in the history of the two clubs that Centrals will be ahead of Glenelg on the head-to-head win/loss ratio

We better win this one, Glenelg!

Everyone is proven to be human at some stage - I'm no different from everyone else!

The 1991 result has got me asking, Ecky, why when you checked the head to head with Dion Haymans' book, was there no difference?
It would have to be put down to a typo on the part of Hayman, I would say.
