Thanks r&b, I was hoping for a little more discussion as we had about Jack Broadstock, but I've enjoyed the research, and learned a few things about some players I never knew

You could be right. He was limited to a FF or FB position. I wouldn't rate him ahead of Candles Thompson who booted 10 in a state game, but I'd certainly consider him for FB in place of Arthur Taylor. Once again, it's so hard when you're basing someone's ability purely on reputation.

Actually got a signed guernsey from the great man in the mail about a week ago, after someone from this site pointed out to him that there was a very sad bloke quite obsessed with him.

Because my older sister took me to matches with her when I was a child, I saw him play. I can't see how he didn't make the team of the century either, but most such teams are biased towards more recent players after the big names have been placed.
