Early-80s Saturday Morning Footy Show

IIRC, it was hosted by David Darcy? Maybe, maybe not.

Players from clubs would appear to preview that particular round of games.

Clearly remember those garden gnome mascots from each club sitting on a table.

And a tipster would turn around the gnome they thought would lose so its back was to camera.

Ring a bell?

Or am I going cuckoo?

I remember a similar type show hosted by i think Rick Keegan. The title of the show had a drink or chip company in it i think.

I remember watching the Sat morning footy show with Dean Davis (channel niners) as host. Only because I was playing Mini League at the time and our game from the previous week happened to be replayed that morning. Dunno if this is the same show you're talking about but it's the only one I remember.

You used to send away for a membership card which got you into games for nix and if your number got called out, which mine never did, you won a garden gnome or soft toy mascot, silver club ingot necklace thing, glass, yo-yo, windcheater etc. Man the SANFL merchandise was cool back then.

Dean Davis was definitely the host.

Sounds similar to the show that Rick Keagan hosted. Maybe he hosted a later version? If its the show i'm thinking about they used to have little "toy" footy players with the various team colours on them and they would sort them each week according to the premiership ladder.
