Goals from Defence

Postby MagareyLegend » Thu Mar 12, 2009 5:24 pm

This is a real tough one for Spelly.
David Tiller told me once that in the early-mid '80s he once kicked 4.6 up to half time playing at half back flank for North v Woodville at Woodville Oval.
Is there any sort of records kept re goals from defenders?

I don't think so; even if a player was named in defence that day, as you know, they can be switched. But what Tiller was saying he had a number of opportunities to run down from defence to score. It's probably more an eyewitness kind of stat; the internet is great for that nowadays - kind of a jumbled up diary of events.
