Central District won the Colts flag that year, too, which is interesting considering the Thirds performance - 9th, 4 wins and 16 losses. The Colts side won that day, too:

Apparently lots of ups and downs in those earlier years, the club had little clue how to manage footy teams in any positive way. He played colts/thirds from the age of 12 (after standing his math teacher in a B grade game for Salisbury North) to 19, with a call up to the league squad only coming after he left to play footy at Salisbury - little wonder they had teams go nearly scoreless and win flags in close proximity.

For the record, the record for Centrals Thirds and Colts teams between 1964 and 1970 are this:

1965: 10th - 1 draw 19 losses

1970: 1st - 20 wins 2 losses (1st after Minor Round, 18 wins 2 losses)

I do have most matches from 1963, but I'll have to research the couple I missed. Unfortunately I can see it will be hard to compare results with ladders for these two grades from this point back because the lack of that info in 1963.

From what I have 2 matches were won out of the 14 matches I have for 1963 for the thirds and none for the 14 matches I have for the colts.

I had a feeling that he would have been tall for his age to be playing Colts at 12.
