When Leaping Lindner met Grave Danger

Postby McAlmanac » Tue Aug 08, 2006 11:18 pm

LL, currently on an Adelaide run for the big Eagles v North clash at Woodville on Saturday, has this afternoon run into (with his elbows tucked in) David Granger at Toss of a Coin on Unley Road. I will leave it to him to recount his experience. :)

I also spoke to Granger at "Toss of a Coin" a few months ago. I believe he is a regular there (gets along well with Gerry) and has quite a collection of old memorabilia!

I have LL here tonight and the word that springs to mind is "bizarre".
He said he was a suprisingly nice fellow but he said maybe that's because he doesn't follow Glenelg.

I played basketball against Granger when he was still with Port. Needless to say there was a bit of "how do you do" on the court, but afterwards we went for a beer in the clubrooms. I wouldn't say we would ever be mates, but as you say he was a surprisingly nice fellow. Very approachable and happy to talk about issues, both mundane and controversial.

I have been waiting for the real story behind Granger to come out but as far as I know it has never been made public. He was a patsy at Port Adelaide who were quite happy to have the public believe his "behaviour", or lack of it, on the football field was all his doing. As I said, one day hopefully the true story will be told.

Granger went public about 'that day' a few years ago.

Tipped a bucket on Jack Cahill and the club and said he was only playing to instructions.

Of course, Jack was stinging in his reply.

Still have the articles somewhere...

I must have missed all that. That's what Granger said to me, and he made a very compelling argument. I had no reason to doubt what he was telling me. I'd like to hear more if you have it.

Borat or Pseudo posted the articles on FootySA not all that long ago.

There was a thread about 'Grave Danger.'

If I could figure out the thread index thingy I could get them easy enough...
