The first Grand Final, or in this case, the deciding match for the Premiership, was the Final in 1901 between Port and Norwood.
The following Grand Finals were played in October:
1901, 1910-11, 1915, 1919 (Replay only), 1921, 1926-38, 1941, 1946-49, 1952-55, 1959-60, 1963-66, 1969, 1980-83, 1985-99, 2001 onwards.
The other finals to have been played in October have been the 1933, 1989 and 2006 Preliminary Finals.
So, the only team to have never played in an October final was Woodville.
