North and Norwood guernseys were the only ones that I thought looked horrible as lace ups.
Sturt,Port,West ,Glenelg, West Torrens and South looked great.
Centrals in the 70's were good but never wore them after the soccer-style guernsey was introduced and I can't recall Woodville wearing them after the mid 70's

The North Adelaide lace-up was my favourite North jumper. And I have a Norwood lace-up here. I think it looks pretty good :)

That's possibly because the lace-up jumpers were made by a South Australian named Vic Hill. So far as I know, he was the only one who made them.

I went to the Richmond museum and met Ron Reiffel (father of Paul) who was the curator/custodian/manager whatever.. at the time, and he told me that a lot of Richmond players liked the guernseys when they played Sturt a couple of times in the lates 60's.

The best ever lace up IMHO was West Torrens in the 1960s with the large eagle on the chest. What a great guernsey that was.

I recall a match in the 1960s at Norwood Oval, and I was watching from in front of the scoreboard. For those who don't know, the current player race was built in the late 60s. Prior to that, the players would run down the terracing and onto the field.

The vision of 20 eagle lace-ups entering the field from my point of vantage looked an awesome sight of a flock of eagles in flight. I was always so envious of that guernsey and never understood why they changed it.
