For whatever reason, I didn't go that day, but watched in on TV and took down the times when the scores occured. We were 1.2 during the first quarter and did not miss after that point, finishing on 15.2.

The Round 21 1998 match between South and Sturt was on a Sunday, and produced an attendance of 4,744. The 2nd highest attendance to a Noarlunga match.

Well that's got me wondering a bit. Given those details to remind me, I can remember the game now and Fitzy kicking his 7 goals (apologies to Matthew Kluzek). Maybe the original plan was St v Glg, and there was a relatively late change of mind.

Spelly, could you please provide qtr by qtr and goals and best players if you have them for all three games in Rd 21 (trying to convince myself, and possibly you, that the ABC actually covered a relatively meaningless Sunday game at Noarlunga).

Thanks Spelly, nothing there that particularly strikes me one way or the other, so I'll go with my underlined program and say the ABC covered South and Sturt on a Sunday, strange as it seems.

Here's a question thats a little unrelated to the thread title, but which i'm curious about.

Can anyone remember when the ABC commenced their regular Saturday afternoon coverage. By this I mean their delayed 20 or so minutes telecast, as opposed to their Saturday evening replay.

My memory is telling me the telecast wasn't around in 1991, however it was in 1995. So I'm presuming it was around 1993/94..

The ABC was the sole broadcaster from 1993. Maybe from then on perhaps? I can't tell you for sure. I did not go to this match, but I recorded it. It was Port/Eagles at Alberton in 2000, and they only showed highlights of the first quarter, then did the rest of the match live. They did change the format for that year I believe, but would have reverted to showing the full match delayed by however many minutes the following year.

The stats at the bottom of the list start from 2000, because most 1999 matches have not been filled in. Since 2000, these pairs of teams have not been broadcast at these venues:

The recent media release regarding the most watched minor round match from 2001 was the Round 12 2005 match. I can only assume because it was a wet day that the ratings were high; however the match wasn't close after quarter time.

this is a great thread and I find it interesting, are you able to access the televised games from 80s and early 90s
I know the abc, had the league football action replay show
from 1980 onwards I think it was until 91
through the mid 80s, especially 84 to 87 they used to show 3 games each week, afterwards just 2

obviously Ch 7, Had 7s big replay 1982-87
Ch 9 had Kgs show 1980-81, and started again in 1989 to 1992
Ch 10 did 1988, same style as Ch 7 in '87 (think it was just 2 games shown) in these years

That would be the only way I could find out myself, unfortunately. In fact, I'd be more inclined to look at the preview of the match or where the teams are listed in the newspaper, it may be there.
