Fixed Price on course

Postby overloaded » Thu Nov 08, 2012 9:34 pm

Just got back from Gawler today and I can say that in a years time there will be no bookmakers on provincial and country tracks. A Morphetville meeting may have a bookmaker or two for a Saturday meeting.
Fixed price betting puts the local bookmakers to shame and I had a good look at them today comparing prices and found the local bookmakers were only better odds on 1 horse per race if that, all the other runners were better prices on Tatts fixed. I asked one bookmaker how much he was holding on a race and he said $400.

It will be a sad day when you cant banter with your local bookie and we are all putting money into a vending machine to place a bet.

RIP bookmakers.

The govt has allowed fixed pricing on course and I cant beleive these guys havent kicked up a fuss. Any other indusrty would have.

Any thoughts?
