Monte Debacle

Monte Debacle What a fast, Another cock up by Harness Racing SA …
They change the rules to suit them selves .
Looking at the trial fields last night for Sunday’s trials
I see there are 2 riders that do not have a licence to drive and when I queried it with some one on the square trotters they said that the head steward has given them a licence for 3 months
So now harness racing S A can make up its own rules as it goes along ???”
What happened to going thought the right channels to get your licence ???”
Has it changed now to one trial drive and then you are a qualified driver ???’’
I also have enquired with 2 top trainers and 2 top drivers and they knew nothing of this until the fields came out.
Next you will be able to get your licence out of a weetbix packet ???
They wonder why young people will not get involved in the sport can you blame them when it is run so unprofessional.
That is why this state will never go ahead because this state is run by incompetent people ..

Certain people in certain circles will stop at nothing to serve themselves, if the powers that be actually permit unlicenced riders in the Monte it will become a bigger joke than it is already. Lets just hope that the horses that are in it this year are actually in work ;)

there are the 'riders' i don't know about s.ryan but has j. gilbert & n. shelbourne actually have a licence ? i think the rest do.........i spoke to a leading jockey a couple of months ago about this & she said she'd love to & she's been quizzed before but it cost too much in insurance etc to worry about anyway she rode a winner in england last week, surely a jockey would be a lot better than (with respect) a stablehand & the lightweight would help as well

I quite enjoy watching watching the novelty of the Monte
Its something different
There is a place for this unique concept, full marks to the club for putting it on
BUT
Punting on this event is iffy and can become purely guess work

Being in race 7, it now means it wont be a leg of the local Quadrella and Treble[phewwwwwwwww]

Hmnnnnn Hooch has brought up some interesting points

So MAL race 7 only makes it the last leg of the Interstate quaddies

-Not very important for quaddie takers, just a comedy event deciding the final leg

Yep
Unitab wouldnt give a rats about the Interstate Quaddies
From Unitabs view point its not in the SA quaddies and Trebles, so the locals have no cause to be garzoompled

I'll be very surprised if the pole horse doesn't win and win easily - was very impressive at the trials, should find the front and i cant see anything running it down.

I would be wary about backing the pole horse Ironman, the stable are known to use betfair.

What a joke it is going to be....again.....

=D> and BOLTS in as well.

From memorey i think most favourites have won this race over the years as it did tonight.

Also interesting to see that this race was 1 of only 2 races that Tattsbet bet fixed odds on at GDP so they must have rated it highly in their view.
