This is a you beaut story
John Jelley started betting 3 years ago
JJ back a 5 leg accumulator with bookmaker Ladbrokes in the UK

The all up bet JJ had
14/1 SPARROW HILLS
SCR FRANKIE FIGG
12/1 BUGSYS BOY
12/1 FORGET IT
66/1 FURROWS

JJ had 9 pound on the bet and won a whopping 345,000 pounds
He backed the horses in a combination of doubles, singles and each way bets

JJ took up punting to pass time after breaking his wrist
When JJ was told of his winnings, he thought the Ladbrokes staff were taking the mickey out of him

JJ said "'I just liked the horses names.""

What makes this even more astounding ?
JJ has been punting for 3 years and is 88 years old !
I would imagine his legs went to Jelley when he found out

QUESTION
Whats been your greatest win for a sMALl outlay ?

Lunch at the tavern with a work mate who was putting on his dog bets for the night..

few loose coins in the pocket i put on a $3 mystery box trifecta.. had the 1st 2 horses leading all the way when the 3rd horse comes flying home to get there in a photo....

$3 turned into just over $750, and didnt even have to study the form :D

Might have mentioned this in here once before, but a mate, his missus and old man were all having a few bevvies at the pub and decided to put on a few Trifecta's .. They'd pick 1 dog or trot each, then box the 3 for 1 unit.

After a couple of wins, the mates missus insists she puts the next lot on, feeling bad because the boys have done all the others.

Anyway, they land the Trifecta on her turn, but she's filled the card out wrong and selected them all in order and put it on for $6 for which they collected approximately $3600.

Mates have a comp between us on who can get the highest paying winner (put a random $ on a rough nut). Leader stands at $213 I believe.
