Did they give any indication of what happened?

THE Australian racing industry is in shock after jockey Stathi Katsidis was found dead at his home in Brisbane's inner north overnight.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances.


Katsidis, 31, had been due to ride Shoot Out in Saturday's Cox Plate and then in the Melbourne Cup.

He is survived by partner Melissa Jackson and son Brooklyn.

Jeez, can't believe it.
Absolutely, stunned and shocked.

Spoke to him just on Sunday morning for a half hour about life and Shoot Out.

He was confident, focussed and a genuinely nice guy.
Gave me the time of day when he was probably in high demand.

Can't believe it.

as much as we used to joke bout him being Kat The Hack i did always back him on horses at longer odds,
1 of my more liked jocks up there up with Scriven and Byrne.
will be interested to know the cause of death also... not good

I'd almost bet my life there is nothing untoward relating to his death.

The dark times were definitely in the past, and was focussed and confident on the eve of the Cox Plate/Melbourne Cup.

well dodge i hope u didnt take that bet...
when i told my mate his said drug over dose for sure...
then i see these suspected headlines... so could be very possible

I'd be very, very surprised if it was drug-related.
He was giving up rides where he needed a lighter weight so he didn't have to starve himself so he could ride at Shoot Out's weight. From my dealings with him, he was a very happy, content, focussed man.
Just doesn't add up.

He did it hard to keep the weight off and thats got to put pressure on the heart and body.

We had a joke about him in the JC sometimes, but one of the best riders in the country........
Had a knack of getting some good long priced winners home
