SA
First trotting archive
10/10/1847
Norah ran from Frome Road to Port Adelaide
A distance measured by the surveyors at 8 miles less 2 chains
timed at 27 mins + 12 seconds
Bets were made that Norah could not run 7 miles in 30 minutes or less
Norah did and the connectitions won the loot
[ The distance I would have thought was further??? and a car from Frome Road to PA would take about 20-25 mins thesedays]

First trots meeting
18/9/1880 , saturday
Old Course, East Parklands
crowd about 1200
weather fine and warm
just after 2 they ran the maiden race
Mr Harvey was the starter and he flagged to start the race
Winners were Tommy Dodd, Pepper,Dominick
[That East Parklands course, is it Vic Park ???}

First night meeting
Jubilee oval [track could be viewed form North Terrace ?]
huge arc lamps used
Crowd between 6000-7000
I wuz not there as it as a non tab meeting

1960s
Bayman attended his first trots meeting

May 1973
Globe Derby
I was a teenager
GL won the sanfl flag beating NA
The year Life on Mars the brilliant TV show was dedicated to
And that famous night at GDP, the first time it happened

surely some people would have taken a cheap quaddie including the 1 and im assuming the 8 is behind it now in each leg and then perhaps gone wider

watch the race   he quickened up approaching the back straight & let the winner get a bigger sniff for victory, granted it still may've won anyway but with no pressure at that stage why quicken up ? absolutely puzzling in my book
