Im sorry but once again Im gunna sulk
Ive lost interest in the greyhound industry AGAIN
REASONS
Its been too time consuming for me to watch tapes of all sprint races
Its been disappointing to see a classic race at Gawler recently where the dogs had a 5 day break from a Tuesday meeting to a Sunday meeting [and a trainer of one of those dogs agrees and was very disappointed his young dog had to race within 5 days]
Some Gawler meetings transferred to Sundays
Distinct lack of 731m Distance races at APK
400M races coming in October at Gawler
Just about all punters that I know dont like these blink races
Too many scratchings and having to re-evaluate the form too often
_____________________________________________________________________
This weeks dogs
MON
No distance races AGAIN, I have to congratulate the club for this, poor programming
TUES
There is a mixed maiden/graduation 643 race, but cant be stuffed studying one race for the week
So piss poor is the state of Distance races that we have stayers having to run in sprints
BILLS HOPE/BARELYS IMAGE are in sprints this week
RISK IT who cant get a run in the restricted maiden/grad gawler race has to race in an open sprint this week at APK
Fancy an open class stayer being outgraded
The only highlight for me is seeing the MALPET finally drew its lid at APK wednesday
R4-1 LONG GULLY JACK
Up against a couple of ex vic dogs
Still lets hope LGJ runs a big race
Ahh well theres always next week
Perhaps a 731 race with a bitta luck
Cheers , good luck to MT79 and OAKYBOY with thier tips this week

for every 500 dogs maybe 2 can run 700m and thats usually because they are nonnies and do not chase 100% for the full 700m. Leave me out of stayers they can usually run like the wind but are low animals trust me i have3 or 4 in the kennels at the moment thieves, Also its very hard to train a stayer, I entered Bills Hope for a 531m i didnt want him running further yet

Mal also which dogs here do you think can run 700m that havent been stepped up to that distance? there is a pool of maybe 20 here which makes it very hard to get fields week in week out its not GRSAs fault, also with them not putting on top grade races i nominate my grade 5s no best 8/open as simply they are not good enough to compete against the better dogs and i dont wish to break their hearts,

Catch 22 situation V/Girl
Programme distance races with regularity
Have at least 3-4 per week
That way owners/trainers know that they can breed stayers, or purchase stayers from Interstate
Might be hard in the short term
But given 1-2 years there should be a pool of stayers to fill up the races
Prizemoney
Lets say these races were run for $2000
GR4/5 [maidens, juveniles, graduation dogs can nominate and get a run, but g4/5 dogs get preference]
1ST 1,200
2ND $400
3RD $200
4TH $80
UNPLACED $30
OPEN GRADE 731M
Lets Say these races are run for $3000
This must be compromised for prizemoney
A good stayer that keeps winning might scare nominations
Also an average dog that wins a G4/5 might be outclassed
So there is a need to flexi the prizemoney
1ST $1500
2ND $700
3RD $400
4TH $160
UNPLACED $60
By trimming off more % of the winner to pay the others will encourage owners/trainers to produce stayers
Dogs that are placed behind the champs can afford to race in this grade
Ideally there should be 3 grades for distance dogs, but that would be difficult
At the moment arguably our best stayers Uncle Remus and Risk It cant get a run becoz they cant get a pool of dogs into an Open grade
Thats my solution

They programe at least 1-2 a week and they just dont get the noms and also there was a gawler superchallenge heats over 531m final 648m they didnt even get 2 heats theres just not the dogs for them in our state unfortunatley

What can we do ?
GRSA is the common denominator
They could publish that there will be more 731 races in 2010 with a increase in prizemoney
That would enable trainers to breed stayers or buy stayers to get a pool of stayers running
Canninigton were getting plenty of good stayers over from the eastern states
That was up until 12 months ago, I havent looked at WA racing for a while

They have increased prizemoney for the placegetters in staying races to encourage people to nominate that way if there is a dominant stayer the place getters are rewarded and also the prizemoney that you quoted as an idea is less than what we race for, Everyone would love a decent stayer you knock up winning races but the fact of the matter is the smaller states SA Tas even Qld to some extent will struggle to fill races week in week out,

Grading was the biggest problem with stayers. We were told Awesome Ryles was OUT-GRADED as a grade 3 over 643m at Gawler. Grade 3 at Angle Park over 731m and he was also outgraded there. We nominated for 5 weeks straight without gaining a start as they were grading the lower graded dogs first just to make sure they got a race to run. They then stated they wouldnt put a grade 5 dog up against our grade 3 dog.
End result is NO INCENTIVE whatsoever to have a distance dog in this state. If i ever get another decent distance dog it WILL be sent interstate to race. Would never waste my time, effort and money again

Looks like we might have to get Ray Borda or Tiny Mclean to sponsor the races for more $$$

Well lets hope for the best possible return. Mind you there are some small fields there tonight.
I've placed my All-Up bets (or your all-up bets I should say) as am still learning in that department.
