DOGS WEEK 4 JUNE + "LURES" ?????

FINISH ON LURE
The new lure is being implemented for all Angle Park dog meetings as of today
Chatted with some trainers , most are contented with the swapover
Personally if it improves the chasing then I think its OK
BUT
Unfortunately it MIGHT make the form topsy turvy when dogs run at APK/GAW ???????
GAW will have the current lure for a while longer
I believe plans are in process to have the Finish on lure at Gawler eventually [months ???]
PUNTING
You all know Im a frontrunning softcock and whenever things are not right I whinge and sulk
B4 I whinge I have made a very healthy profit in 2009 betting almost exclusively at Gawler
BUT
I must now have a break for a while and just watch until Im convinced that the form will hold up
Prob now is that dogs interchanging between APK/GAW are running with 2 different lures
The APK lure MIGHT enhance dogs to chase better
But what happens to that percieved improvement when the dog runs at Gawler ????????????
Until I see a trend for or against, I wont be punting seriously on the dogs
QUESTION
Greyhound gurus is this all supposition ?
Will the different lures affect form ?
Should we have had the finish on lure on all tracks as of today ?
How will 2 lures affect a dogs performances ?

BILL'S HOPE
Had 11 runs interstate for 1 win + 1 place
FORM was 57366517687
Joined the Kim Johnstone kennels
Has had 4 runs in SA
FORM 6141
The 2 wins were when the finish on lure was used
BILL'S HOPE gets back in its races and it appears the new lure MIGHT be the reason for winning ???
The new lure is higher and all the dogs can see it
The previous lure was very hard to see if a dog got well back
BILL'S HOPE
the 2 wins were enourmous
both times near last on the home turn and Billy hooked out wide and swooped
I know they were only Graduations, but Ive not seen dogs fly home like this too often
Definitely one to follow
Its in Thursday night in a sprint at Angle Pk
It is backing up from Monday , but KJ is a very good trainer and knows her dogs capaBILLities
If the new lure helps swoopers it makes for more entertaining races

FINISHING LURE
I found out this from some trainers/punters/others
TRAINER A
Makes the dogs chase better
Would prefer if the lure had skin on it so the dogs wont bite thru it in the catching pen
TRAINER B
Different lures makes little diffrence from track to track
In fact different lures, catching arrangements keep some dogs focused [for iffy chasers]
Good dogs chase well behind most lures
Trainer likes the new lure
there is a finish on lure at Albion Pk
PUNTER A
The greyhound godfather
Makes no difference at all having a different lure
TRAINER C
feMALe trainer says the new lure causes muzzle damage when the dogs grab the lure
PUNTER B
known as fast eddie
no difference between tracks with diff lures
less injuries if dogs grab the lure instead of pulling up in the catching pen
TRAINER D
suits swoopers the new lure
is higher, bigger and the dogs at the tail of the field can see it
previous lure advantaged dogs that lobbed in the first 3
TRAINER D
does not like it becoz only some of the dogs grab the lure the rest cant get it
TRAINER E
saw a dog having to jump over the other dogs when the lure stopped for the dogs to grab
does not like that
TRAINER F
unhappy her dog fell when the lure stopped after the race
TRAINER G
non chasers like this lure
a lot of Australian nonnys race in NZ who have a similar lure and they improve
suits runners who get well back
no probs with dogs Gaw/Apk diff lures
likes the new lure
SUMMARY
Thats the views of a cross section of trainers/punters
Most have assured me the new lure wont affect form between APK/GAW
Im still gunna watch for a couple of weeks
TRAINER H
Ive saved the most compelling comment for last
This larger than life trainer had this to say
Cant understand why the lure stops after the finishing line on the first bend ????
The bend is between the finishing post and the catching pen
By stopping on the turn too many dogs are bumping into each other
Also it takes a while for the catchers to reach the dogs
Says what happens if the dogs muzzles come off , could be bad
Says he wants the lure to stop nearer the catching pen as its safer
very very interesting

Bills Hope will be scratched from thur as apparantly now the new grading he is inelligible??? Had no idea wouldnt have raced him on a monday if i had known this was the case, Finish on definatley helps him he is a funny dog hates that new split light in the back straight basically hurdles it would have won his 1st start if he hadnt stopped at it.
As for 600m who knows we will see what happens he gives every indication he will run it but you just dont knowtill you put them over it

mal, how do the vic & nsw dogs cope when they go to qld with the 'finish on lure system' ? (as i've never heard of any complaint about it from trainers from those states in the media)

ANGLE PARK BREKKY
im not 100% convinced about this Lure that are currently being used, obviously Mal has spoken to more trainers than I have but I spoke to 3 trainers and a few owners who are all very concerned about this and potential injuries that may occur.
It would appear that this lure will help backmarkers, as they wont lose sight of the lure and keep chasing
1 - 8 if this can lead should be hard to beat
2 - 1 should win and 4 can place - so 1/4/f and 1/f/4 and so on for first 4's as well
3 - 8 top pick from 4
4 - 3,8 - going with the 3 on top
5 - 1-3 main chances from 4,5,6,8
6 - 1/4/7
7 - 1-3/4-5
8 - 1-6/7-8
