of the players i've seen i'd have either walker or dangerfield, but very hard to bet in a contest where you don't know all the participants

Robinson may be worth a few. Will play games this year, just depends whether he gets enough...

I'm gonna put some cash on him.

No Naitanui??

Interesting that they think Sidebottom will be up there, the bloke was smashing the rest of the Pie boys in fitness trials, but whether he plays many games is another thing.

Gumbleton will be getting my money. He was taken at number 2 two years ago and apparently has had a great pre season. Big Lad and will hold down CHF. With Lucas and Lloyd teaching him I can't go past him.

I like Chris Masten. Gonna get on him while his odds are still this high.

Bar injury, I reckon he'll play just about every game for them. He's very fit and the coaching staff will try and mold him into the type of player Kerr is, hard running and high possession count.

But don't take my word for it, watch him in action this Saturday night against the Pies and then make your mind up ;)

Couple of points to consider for those who do bet on these things:
- Of the 16 winners, only Nick Holland, Justin Koschitzke, Nick Riewoldt and Jared Rivers could be called key position players, as Goodes played a roaming role. Only Koschitzke was actually in his first year. Very tough for a young tall player to have an immediate impact, because of the physical impact of AFL footy.
- Of the 16 winners, only Cousins, Pickett, Goodes, Rivers and Selwood have played in a top eight team and only Pickett and Selwood in a top two team. It's much easier to get a game and have a bigger role in a poor team. Think about bad teams.
- Only Justin Kostchitzke and Ben Cousins have been nominated after round 8 and won the award. If your man hasn't been noticed by then, you've done your dough.

As a last point, since award voting was made public, the runner-up to the award since 1997 has also been nominated by round 10 at the latest, with the exception of Ryan Griffen in 2005, meaning first and second have been recognised already pretty much every year before the half way point of the season.

I'll have a tip after four weeks of watching games from this w/e, but at this point I like the trio of Rich, Masten and Sidebottom. Coll and WC squads are named at midday today and will be keen to see if those last two are named, and what roles they get on Saturday. The talk on Sidebottom has been huge, but he has a few ahead of him for any significant time in the midfield.

Good work Rog. Will be interesting to see if Sidebottom gets a regular gig.

Jack Ziebell for me. He will get a game over Lachy Hansen this year. There is a lot of young players at the roos this year that will get a few games each to see who has the potential to fill Shannon Grant and Jess Sinclairs spots. And not being a team filled with "superstars" they will have an even better chance of getting a game.
