NEVER EAT AT GLOBE DERBY PARK

NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!

Will i have a meal in the downstairs BISTRO at Globe Derby Park.

SUNDAY EVENING!

First of all we get to the track and wanted to sit down somewhere we could enjoy our meal and watch the races at the same time.
FIRST MISTAKE> we were sent downstairs as nothing else was available if we wanted to sit down and have ameal.
SECOND MISTAKE> we thought never mind we will miss the first couple of races BUT can watch them on the tv in the bistro WRONG it wasnt on.
THIRD MISTAKE> thinking we would enjoy our meal. I think the thousands of flies BLOODY enjoyed it more than we did.
FOURTH MISTAKE> ordering a T-BONE steak and recieveing a BLOODY chop instead.
FIFTH MISTAKE> within minutes and i do mean minutes of starting to take orders they first couldnt find the key to open the till. THEN when they did find it they had no BLOODY CHANGE.
SIXTH MISTAKE> again within minutes of taking orders they start wiping the menu board COZ they ran out of food.
SEVENTH MISTAKE> waiting forever to get our meal coz the chef had to bring it out herself coz the waiting staff hadnt showed up on time.
EIGHTH MISTAKE> waiting for the table to be cleared of dirty dishes by the waiting staff. WRONG my 4 young kids had to clear the table so our main course had room to fit on the table.
NINTH MISTAKE> expecting the salad bar to be full of FRESH SALAD. WRONG it was totally disgusting and i wouldnt even give half the CRAP they were offering to my dogs.

All we heard for the entire time we were in the Bistro was numerous complaints coming from nearly every table.

As i said i will NEVER EVER again eat a meal at GLOBE DERBY PARK and have passed on my experience to all my friends and colleagues to make sure they eat before ever going there.

1 FINAL WORD OF OUR EXPERIENCE IN THE BISTRO

*********DISGUSTING**********

A friend of mine ate at GDP last year
He found a fly in his steak
He complained to a managing representative
He asked what would be done about the meal that he could not eat
The representative replied
" WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO , ORGANISE A FUNERAL FOR THE FLY."

Hmmmmn

Well Ive never had a bad experience at GDP with the tucker
BUT
know a few people who have voiced complaints over the years

I used to have lunch there every friday after I'd picked up the sheets for the weekend. But after ordering the fish and getting 1 piece the size of your thumb and going to the salad bar and finding no such thing as potato salad or coleslaw - I SAID NO MORE.

I've never seen a salad bar without both before and it wasnt because the huge crowd of 6 that dined there had knocked it all off.

Stampy please note that there is a huge difference between eating downstairs and in dining upstairs in the Paceway restuarant.
In the Paceway they have a good spread of food [prawns, meats, deserts etc] set up in buffet style and you can eat as much as you want as well as see what your getting whereas downstairs its more like X-Lotto.

I agree with the last post the upstairs BUFFET is quite good and i have never had a problem with their quality or range of food.

BUT the downstairs FERAL FOOD bistro is like playing russian roullette.

The fact the buffet wasnt open upstairs meant we no choice where we sat down for a meal. IN HIND SIGHT i would of rather of had the BBQ the strath club had an offer.

Lunches at Angle Park are excellent, we've had our last 2 "staff meetings" there over lunch, the prices are pretty good as well when you get 2 for 1 with an Ambassadors card............I'm looking forward to a seafood platter later this week =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

Just to clarify this point MAL - I've spoken to the person who made the comment about the fly...
That person is not a catering person and has nothing to do with the food...

If your friend was eating a shit meal (and they do exsist at GDP) then he should have taken it back to the cook, not complained to someone who could do nothing about this...

Am surprised to hear such a fuss about the meals at GDP as i've eaten there plenty of times and have never had a problem with the quality or the service including Sunday evening. Having been to many, many Trotting clubs around Australia over the last few years, i would rate the meals at GDP right up there for Quality, Value and Service.

Jackpot Jim are you talking about the upstairs buffet or the downstairs bistro as there is a stark contrast

i've given this time to see & since this post i have eaten at globe derby DOWNSTAIRS, on a few mondays & every saturday night apart from when an sanfl game has been on & i haven't had a problem with the food at all, neither has little bayman or others that have made the trip out to gdp with us, the food is of a high quality, the service is very friendly & i'd suggest that rk just got 'the one bad meal' that could happen anywhere

SO I AM QUITE HAPPY TO SAY IT IS A GOOD PLACE TO EAT

Agree with u Bayman. Took 4 mates there a couple of months ago and ate downstairs and they loved it.
Despite the price increases recently, still not bad value compared to some places like the casino where their idea of a salad is a lettuce leaf with a slice of tomato. :(

Couldn't agree more, I have had lunch there 5 or 6 times in the past 2 years (most recently, 2 days before xmas) and have always had a sensational meal.
