Due to the extreme heat the Port Augusta greyhound meeting scheduled for Saturday night has been abandoned due to the 38+ degree forecasted temp. GOOD DECISION!! Unless it was abandoned due to the fact only enough nominations to hold 6 races and most of those had vacant boxes

Yet the Strathalbyn greyhounds Scheduled to start at 1.13pm Sunday in forecasted 39+ degrees is still going ahead. WHAT THE

Gawler fields just released for Tuesday. Instead of normal 10 races only enough noms for 8 races and 1st race has 5 dogs/ 2nd race 6 dogs/ 3rd race 7 dogs/ 4th race 7 dogs and this is before any scratchings. Most fields now are peppered with vacant boxes.

You would think with the expected extreme heat for Tuesday they would start races at normal time. BUT NO they put them back an hour to start after 1pm. GRSA lift your game this is not having the best welfare of the greyhounds in mind.

Grsa have nothing but thier own best interests. The only TAB meeting called off due to heat was New Years we have raced quite often since in at least equal heat. And something needs to be done about the air con in the wash down rug up area its just not good enough, The dogs should be No 1 not the stewards and tv people whos aircond backs into the kennel area and heats it up

why not run GAWLER as a night meeting

oh i forgot SKY CHANNEL tell everybody when they can and cant race!!!!!!!

GRSA should be reported to the RSPCA

as VG has mentioned the dogs welfare should be the NUMBER 1 priority but no no no no of course it isnt

its quite funny how NEW YEARS got abandoned due to heat yet the ADELAIDE CUP HEATS in the same if not hotter conditions went ahead......

they are an absolute bunch of ..................................................

WOW. U Beauty. will be able to bet with confidence NOT into those Pathetic $2,000 win Pools and that is After the Pool jumps from $800 to $2,000 After the Race has started making it impossible to have any sort of decent size bet.
Basically if it's not on Sky Channel, the pools are Crap.
eg. Looks at the Pool sizes for Winnellie Park dogs tonight, they'd be less than Stath on Sunday.  .

Kulpara is terrible when the temp reaches 30 never mind 39-40. Their main problem is that they have a water restriction problem and the track is just way to hard apparently.
Also the press release today states Kulpara will be holding their last meeting at the end of June and then will cease to hold races after that. The tower needs replacing at a cost of over $50,000 making it financially unviable.
