I thought it was a joke but frankly i,m ashamed that the grsa could even program this race as it is.
surely there are other greyhounds around?
2 trainers have 10 dogs with 1 having 8.
why would you bet on this .
just write out checks now.
thanks for coming.

RATING 8-4 good reply BAYMAN

I have nothing personal about the 2 trainers involved.
Good luck to them for ekeing out a living out of greyhound racing.

But unfortunately punters can not punt SA with any confidence at all these days.

Bookmaker Peter Dammerell gave up Monday trots but not Monday dogs for a reason

With Shaun breaking in our pup BUNDY maybe ill just follow his lead and bet on the same dog he does in this race. Surely he would know which dog has the better chance out of them all.

From the 24th February til the 5th March which is a 11 day period there are 7 meetings at Angle Park 2 at Gawler and 1 at Strath. May also have been 1 at Mt Gambier in that time as well. So thats 10-11 greyhound meetings in SA in 11 days. We simply dont have that many dogs to fill all those fields so it was bound to happen that between the Mattcotts and Rasmussens they were going to fill a whole race between them as they have the majority of dogs in this state. Nothing against them at all as i wish i had the kennel and land space to have more dogs so i could make a living solely training dogs.
With Kulpara and Barmera about to start up again i can see alot more meetings have their nominations extended just to try and avoid the VACANT BOX issue. Already this week and next Angle Park Tuesday meeting extended the nominations twice just to try and fill the fields but there are still vacant boxes and the Wednesday meeting have had to extend the nominations until Monday morning.

Yep its not good news,
i have keep some stats (MT and Mal know i love stats)
from july 2007 there has been an increase of 2 extended meetings a month to 8 to 10 meetings a month. (approx.)
both Angle Pks this week for tues and wed were extended.

i,m running out of answers to help out this increasing problem.

would moving wednesdays to a monday twilight or thursday twilight and have 20 races on these nights be any helpful????

ROO do you know if the number of racing dogs registered in the state has increased or declined in this period.

I personally would like to see the Wednesday morning meeting at Angle Park scrapped for a Sunday Arvo or twilight meeting at either Angle Park or Gawler. The crowd on wednesday morning is NON EXISTANT and the only people there are the owners/trainers and MAYBE a couple of punters IF your lucky.
It would never happen though BUT when you look at the crowd these twilight weekend meetings have got the last couple of times they have been held just MAYBE the crowd are speaking with their feet.

Ive seen bigger crowds on trial night than at some of the Wednesday meetings.

SURELY the number of registered dogs in a state wouldnt be secret!!

only if it was at all time low which is a distinct possibility given the extended noms situation and vacant boxes on a wed morning

Both lisa and Shaun cant figure out why this has happened, I have no idea why my dog Cherokee Bale has been upgraded to a mixed 4/5 instead of being in the straight grade 5

Does anything make sense in this state!

Spoke to Shaun today and the reserves are scratched as well as another one of his dogs plus Lisa has scratched one. Making it a 6 dog race and Shaun has 5 of them LOL.

GAWLER tuesday which is now an ANGLE PARK meeting only has 8 races instead of 11

i thought about going to this meeting but that is really poor.

58 runners in tomorrow over 8 races with VACANT BOXES

VACANT BOXES in 5 of the 8 races and thats before any scratchings come out............

the pools will be very small tomorrow

They extended noms a few times and even did a ring around trying to drum up nominations. Its just a fact SA doesnt have the pool of dogs to field 5 meeting in a week that are all 500m racing or further. And the last week at angle park the track has been very strange alot of my dogs are pulling up very sore i have 3 that are out for 3 months just the last week, add that to the ones that are already injured and i have 10 dogs that cant race

there were problems with the track, around the 731m boxes where near the rail wasnt the best place to be

certain trainers believed there were about 20 or more danger spots but GRSA only came up with half a dozen......

Monday Night Gawler
Tuesday Night Angle Park Trials
Thursday Night Angle Park
Friday Day Gawler Trials
Saturday Day Country Meeting (Strathalbyn/Barmera/Port Pirie/Pt Augusta) on rotation between 4 clubs.

How would this structure work with SA Greyhound racing?
Vicgirl/Bundy Brad/Ryles?

Maybe try:
Monday Night Angle Park
Thursday Night Angle Park
Saturday Country Meets
Sunday Twilight/Night Gawler

-Monday and Thursday Great TAB Exposure for AG Dogs.
-Taking out Wednesday day OR making it Non TAB OR Non Tab Saturday could also help with lack of nominations on Big Nights.

Who knows, its not as easy a question as it seems.

KULPARA

at the end of this season that is the end for KULPARA

its a great day out, sad to see

figMAL the punters pal and guru etc, lost his shirt at the KULPARA CUP heats meeting in october of 2006.

I dont think the club ever really recovered after that moment.
