Just emptied the last $30 in my account on Hearts and Halos each way, good start considering I couldn't pick one winner when I was at Oakbank on Saturday (besides Hay List in Sydney).

What a day! Started with $50 on Hearts & Halos @ $5.00 then the triffy in the 4th for $170 then amazingly jagged 50% of the triffy in the last & $5278! divided by 2 = $2639 (not doing math, reading off the ticket!) Has backing horses Always been this easy?
and yes iI am hammered! please forgive ne!

Got a quick question that one of you regulars can probably help me out with. if you were to have a two leg Each Way All Up bet, just say $20 ew and the first gets up and pays say $7 for the win and $2 for the place. Does that become $140 wins and $40 places on the next or does it get split up $90 each way? or a both scenarios wrong? Thanks in advance I didnt want to start a new thread for something someone can probably answer in one post.

The second one is correct. Whatever you collect on the first bet is split 50/50 onto the next one.....

The 2nd occurs but...

You are better off taking two seperate All Up bets IMHO.

$20 Win All Up
$20 Place All Up

Let's say your 1st leg wins @ $7 & $2 - $140 All Up & $40 All Up
If the 2nd Leg Wins, for sake of example, again $7 & $2
Outlay $40
Dividend = $980 + $80
Profit $1020

Your way;
Outlay $40
Dividend = $630 + 180
Profit = $770

If the 2nd leg runs a PLACE
Outlay $40
Dividend is better, obviously, but I think you are better (long term) going the other way.

I like All Up betting as a back up within my betting structure.
Let's say I find 3 horses I wish to back @ a particluar venue, then I 'couple' them & 'treble' them both ways (i.e. Win & Place) results can be quite rewarding

E.g. Horse A, Horse B, Horse C

1. Back all of them whether for Win, Place or Both (I like ratios rather than E/Way, 1 to 4 - $10 Win, $40 Place)
2. Couples - AB, AC, BC ( Again, Wins & Place @ 1/2 Cost of Original Bets) 3 x $5 Win All Up, 3 x $20 Place All Ups
3. Trebles - ABC (1/5th of the Original Stake) 1 x Win Treble @ $2, 1 x Place Treble @ $8
(If the races chosen are the ACTUAL Treble on the Card - then I double the Win to $4)
Total Outlay = $235 or $237 for the day.
