JJ.....from what I've seen and heard of him....Gentleman, knowledgable, charismatic, and puts some life into some crap races.

I always thought the best racecallers punted, cos they know their form.
And maybe JJ is fitter than most and likes to run up the stairs!!!!

Sounds like just another avenue for a whinge....the drivers, trainers, horses & dogs, and committees and authorities have all had their bashing, why not start on the racecallers.

the way you were talking earlier, you were heading along the lines that jimmy should be the penultimate caller?

Not at all Theo.. and I haven't done a backflip on this either...
I maintain - Jimmy is the best caller we have in SA....
But where do you draw the line on him missing the start of races? I know he tries to give the punter the latest info - but no other caller misses races like Jimmy.
Once or twice is ok - we all get into work late sometimes, but to do it as regular as Jimmy does is just a bit off putting for me - when there is a big push for professionalism and a big clean up in all 3 industries at the moment (not that it is happening now) -
I believe as a race caller - he needs to be in the box about 1 - 2 mins before the start of a race - how hard is that??

Mind you - I did like the little joke he put in at the start of race 8.. saying about at least we're here on time for this race...

I think some people can apologise for thier remarks on Jimmy.
He had a family matter to attend to and had to leave the race course.
