I would say Jackpot JIm - given his name i would say he invests heavily into exotic jackpot pools moreso then win/place so having a betfair account wouldnt be a priority for him

Anyone who has ever had a $5+ on a win or place bet in thier lifetimes need to make BF a priority

Sure if you want to Maximise your winnings, then YES, you would want to have EVERY betting acc. option available to you including Betfair to get the absolute BEST price.

BUT..............

You have to remember Mal that not everyone goes thru every bit of supermarket junk mail or searches every supermarket for the CHEAPEST price of EVERY product they buy.
Not EVERY person drives all over Adelaide in search of the CHEAPEST petrol.
Not EVERY person is worried about quitting their job to work for the mob down the road bcos his mate works there and gets 2k a year more.

At the end of the day Mal, the winning punters (probably about 2 - 3 %) are winning and happy with or with out Betfair whilst to the other 97 - 98 % of punters, my advice would be to give the game away.

You need to bet on different accounts/agencys.
the value is spread around the place.

last night and next saturday tattsbet will be very usefull.
EG they bet $2.30 glengowan, $3.80 awaywiththefaires, $1.65 moment of silence. But you cant bet with them on course have to bet through a account.
These 3 where very big overs compared to on course, betfair and paramutual pool prices.

Betfair can be very good BUT many times you can not get decent sized bets matched or the value it not there on double to long priced runners. So if you want to have a go can be hard to get on. JJ is right quite often most of the trading is done in the last 2 to 3 minutes.
Biggest advantage of Betfair is you can lay the ones you don't think can win. EG Makati Maximus. $2.90 the win and $1.50 the place I felt bad taking peoples money.

Luxbet are a very good option for trots and dog betting. they offer best of Stab and NSWtab. Meaning you get best tote if unitab doesn't pay best, if Unitab is best tote you get middle tote. So your guarenteed middle tote with chance of geeting best tote. Plus you can have allups with them.

Bottom line is there No perfect option. You need to have a few at you fingertips.

i don't know about betfair but i rang up tattsbet & took $1.75 glengowan fixed as the oncourse bookies opened him at $1.40 as he was very impressive sitting outside repelem last monday & blew her away.......i had already backed repelem at the $2.50 place only on tattsbet (paid $2.30 tote)......what was her place only price betfair ?...the winner of race 8 awaywithmal was $3.80 into about $2.40 on tattsbet & she opened up even money with both bookies on track, so regardless of all this crap of what is better you will get the best div from different places over the course of the year

If the liquidity isnt there on BF you just queue it up and wait, more times than not you will get matched. People have bots on virtually all BF markets to margin shave.

If you are going to risk your $$$ you might as well get the best odds surely thats common sense, at the end of the day there is no "one size fits all" and your best to have a number of options (bookies) ready to go when you want to place an investment

Yep agree for big bets of that magnitude you can get set with MOST bookies conviently
With BF you have to queue yor bets and can be a process
My suggestion for the above scenario

Put the $300 BF
Put the rest on the CORPS

For sMALler punters like myself I have no qualms about getting set at better odds MOST times compared to the market place

Globe Derby on Sky 2 today is a joke !!!
This is SA's one time of the year where a sort of Carnival is in progress with last Saturdays card and The Cup coming up. I would have thought Sky would have helped keep any momentum gained by keeping Globe on Sky 1.

Then when Murray Bridge was abandoned freeing up a time slot you would think perhaps Globe would be promoted to fill the void BUT the Sky Channel rep told me once its been advertised on a certain channel then it cant be changed

And YES I know just get Sky 2, but I tried last week and because I have Phone, Internet, Mobile and Foxtel all with Telstra I have to get a whole new package deal to accomodate or pay about $16 extra a month for it. What happened to the advertised get Sky 2 for an extra $6 a month ???

according to jim jacques over the on course PA today, he said that peter smith & ben ???? from sky are negotiating changes in times (murray bridge times) & to put it onto sky1....it was on sky1 from race 3 onwards.....so between peter smith & the G force they got it done



surely nothing is impossible when all you have to do is change the feed

In last Years thread a few of youse got fired up over the drive on Star Legacy
Star Legacy held the lead got into a stoush for the lead with the fav Disco Invasion
Some defended the drive, others didnt
Star was well beaten , Disco ran 2nd
The driver of Star Legacy was given a 6 week suspension

The only comment I wanted to make was
It happened but what happens next time ?
Im intimating for some sort of consistency

With a new driver on Star Legacy (maybe one with some brains)and the race being 441m further than last time, I dont think Michael Smith would be so stupid to risk suspension to drive it the same way as it was driven last time.
i.e. I would be shocked if he didn't hand up to one of the more fancied horses in the race.

My tips are 4 - 10 - 8 - 5 - 7 with about 50 metres to the rest of the slugs.
