If you look at the court layout. Courts 17-20 or 18-21. I forget at the moment, have a distinct disadvantage for left handers. These four courts face East To West and face directly into the sun around 10ish and 2:30ish for left handers. This blinds them to a large degree. For those courts and left handers. It's LAY LAY LAY.

If your having a bet on the mens matches bet with Sportsbet, they have a promotion where you get your stake back as a free bet if your pick loses in a 5 setter, nice to have that bit of insurance as there is nothing more frustrating. Have checked their odds and they are very good, I saw 3 matches where Sportsbet had better prices than Betfair!

I also noticed that offer, it has to be on a head to head bet as well.

Some games look like they have been postponed as well today:

I am guessing the refund when the player you picked loses in a 5 setter does not apply to multis.

Yep doesn't count, just took a while to register on sportsbet unfortunately.

PUNTERS BURN FINGERS ON SHARAPOVA
Posted on Mon 18th January 2010

Maria Sharapova, the first star to tumble at this year’s Australian Open, caused a few Sportsbet.com.au punters burnt fingers as Sharapova ($1.17) lost to fellow Russian Maria Kirilenko ($5.10).

“Many had anchored Sharapova in their multi-bets, which are quite popular in the opening days of Grand Slam events,” said Sportsbet.com.au’s Haydn Lane.

In tonight’s matches, Australian Peter Luczak ($17) is the long-priced underdog against defending champion Rafael Nadal ($1.01), while Jelena Dokic ($2.60) is the outsider against Alisa Kleybanova ($1.50).

“We’ve taken a few big bets on Nadal tonight at the prohibitive odds of $1.01, down to bets of one dollar to win one cent!” said Lane.

All markets courtesy of Sportsbet.com.au

Peter Luczak vs Rafael Nadal
$17 Peter Luczak
$1.01 Rafael Nadal

Jelena Dokic vs Alisa Kleybanova
$2.60 Jelena Dokic
$1.50 Alisa Kleybanova

5TH SET EQUALS FREE BET!

Losing a nail biter of a match can be heartbreaking, so in the spirit of fair play Sportsbet.com.au is giving its members a second chance in every men’s singles match of the 2010 Australian Open.

If the match goes to five sets and your player loses, Sportsbet.com.au will refund your stake as a free bet you can use on another match!

Soderling out.

Sharapova out.

Two big outs as there always are i the first round of a slam!

Verdasco lucky against the Aussie in Ball.

Rochus lost to a wildcard so Hewitt gets to play a wildcard in rd 2!!

Just had $1k on Cilic at the start of the fourth set against Tomic.
$1.38

Tomic is over-rated, Cilic still under-rated.
Hopefully easy $$

And if it gets up, straight onto Henin to win the championship at $4.25.
Played sublime tennis this evening against a credible opponent.
She has the chance to be one of the best ever.

She will beat Clijsters in the 4th rd, and from there it's plain sailing.

Tomic over-rated. 17 yrs old. 2 sets to nil up against the bloke that you think is under-rated.

If he was a decent player, he would kill of opponents such as Tomic as an up and comer!!

Fair call, but just can't see Tomic being able to overcome Cilic.

Cilic knows how to win. I hope

tips for today

bag and ferrer to be a 5 setter, bag to come out on top just in an epic
granollers to win
hewitt to win in over 30 games, young can play the young american but hewitt to strong, might go to 4th set
tipsavic to beat haas. underdog in this one but really strong chance
hajek to take the first set off YOUZHNY. paying $6 at the tab, dont rate youzhny in this tournament,
almargo to strong 4 becker.

think there is good value with davydenko and henin double at $45 at tab, even dav and clijsters at $35.
davydenko a very strong chance in taking this out, will have to beat some big names in the quarter and semi but can do it.
clijsters and henin r a class above the rest at the moment. to good for the williams sisters
