I'd glady take you on - it has been the bookies season as to date (very similar to afl this past year early) and this thread is marginally down with over 6 months of the season to go.

I bet in the leagues where I find value because mainstream soccer punters do not looks at theses leagues and because there are always more layers than backers on soccer. Over the season you get inflated prices about very probable results for example in the Greek league there are 2 teams (aris and xanthi) that the last 10 times they have played has gone under 2.5 goals yet it is 1.55 on betfair every time they play.

I am here for the season and will continue to post my weekend selections whether this thread runs bad or good.

Feels a lot better winning in a 120% market, than losing in a 100% market.

I'm entitled to my opinion. Just as you were on the jockey's challenge thread. From what I have seen on this thread, you have no idea. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Marginally down Davey?? 1 out of 4 last week when highest price is is $1.61 I would say a lot down. Some of the matches you tip Davey have a habit of popping up on the TAB, but I still stay away from them because so far your track record is like tipping Melbourne and Fremantle every week last season - ORDINARY.

And what happened to posting your reasons for tipping them like you did at the start of the year? Or did you stop to save from embarrasment?

PS welcome back

The Icelandic and Libyan leagues look particularly hard this week.
Siri Nelg. (Al Hareb - Lyric Star by Bletchingly). Trainer A Krushka. 93 starts- 7 wins - 19 placings. Career Earnings $215,235. By Geez he was a good horse, just unlucky.

Good on you for putting your balls on the line. Those who nit-pick at the losing selections obviously have nothing better to do than boost their ego's. Because it's not your cash that is being lost.

A P/L would be nice. Especially since your providing regular tips in the one thread.

As for the BIG V word. Value is subjective. We all know that. I personally think it is the most over-used word in racing. If the JC thread found so much value, then they would return more than $100 on average per assessed market. But there is no way of proving that as no-one assessed the markets, well at least they didn't post them.

In a way this thread is a little bit funny. OH that selection won't win because Davey Carlson has selected it. While he might be losing OVERALL, on an individual selection you need to really justify and reason with yourself if there is any value/edge in laying Davey's selection. Or laying the non-selection.

More lay bets will get matched than back bets. And laying has a better edge in long term pools.

But back on topic.

You really need to narrow down your area of bets if your analysing form. Because like it or not, we can't know everything!
Extend the study time per selection and assess their chances. Mark down the influencial factors and how important they are. If you can't accurately assess their winning chances, what hope do you have of getting any other bets like OVER 2.5, HT/FT.

Lets face it. ANYONE can tip. Anyone can be a winning tipster on any given day. Even your grandmother or a grade 6 student could pluck some freakish results out of mid air. But we shouldn't rely on pot luck. We should back our judgement and actually do it properly rather than being a wannabe tipster who has to win each day just to support his ego and to SHOW OFF to fellow posters.

Punting is a big ego thing. And I think some people here and on other places concentrate more on stroking their ego than they do winning money......because it's easy to lie on here and HIDE the losing bets, but SHOW the winning ones.

Enough rambling. Happy punting.... but if your going to stroke your ego. At least have a proper go.

Only giving DC's Soccer cra*p because he gave the JC's cr*p.

Pretty simple, really.

Good on him for having a crack, but that's what we did in the JC's and he persistently chimed in with snide remarks if we had an average day.

Wow Oaksy, way too much sense for this site. I am one who DC has had a go at because I like the JC's and think that he is prepared to "give it out" the people are entitled to "give it back". So far his selections have not been great, and he may improve but in the mean time he deserves some ribbing ... its all in good fun. And DC, this 2 different accounts is not helping your cause.

Reading the above posts, it seems that Davey Carlson may be an ignorant punter. Nothing wrong with that as there are plenty of them out there. Just that none of them tend to make much sense in what they are trying to achieve. A)To burn money as fast as possible. B)Learn about dimensia and remember the wins, but forget the losses or C)Stroke that good old ego with a few good days.

Bearing in mind I've got no idea about the history between this site and Davey Carlson.

I'd like to see some consistency in the selections though. And perhaps reasoning with some idea of prices and staking. Otherwise......tip tip tip tip to your hearts content.
