A League Finals

Postby OnSong » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:15 am

I'm not much of an A League pundit, but UniTAB has the Phoenix at $6.50 against the Reds tonight.
Given the pitch is likely to be soaking wet, NZ's renowned defensive, scrappy game and the fact they rolled the Reds at home only a few weeks ago, I don't think this is a bad bet at all.
Add on top of that the withdrawal of Paul Reid, I reckon this game is probably going to be a low-scoring dog-fight.
Any other thoughts?

$3.90 the draw also doesn't look bad.

Given the same bet a lot of thought too OS.

Depends how they respond to the loss of Reid really doesn't it?
Would be good to know the feeling in the camp about it.

Wellington (+1.0) at $1.83?

Yeah, I can't see it being more than a 1-0 game really. Mind you, again, I'm no expert.

Saw the odds in the paper this morning and thought it was over the odds...

I may be wrong as I don't follow it, but haven't Wellington beaten the Reds twice in recent times.... once here, once over there.....

yeah it was 1 - 0, tonights conditions are gonna make it harder for both teams.
so more chance for a roughie to get up so to speak.

dunno if theres any injury concerns for adel atm?

you would think adel should be pretty primed for this game tho, but its soccer... 1 goal can win it. and $6.50 does seem over the odds for a final

Maybe against CCM? We did score in injury time to make it 2-1. 2-0 down at the half.

Adelaide 3 -0 wellington in round 11 - with 3 goals in 6 mins

wellington 2-1 adelaide in round 17

adelaide 0-1 wellington in round 26

looking at the season results adelaide should be favs and are clear cut favs as there home record is superior + wellington only won 2 games away from home - albeit one was here

Under 2.5 goals looks like a decent bet tonight.

Also like the Victory to get past Gold Coast on Sunday.

Espeically given it's the opening game from these two, we should expect a defensive style employed.
And given the wet conditions, under 2.5 looks great doesn't it.

A lot of it hinges on how the camp handles the departure of Reid doesnt it it....
Funny how those kind of things can influence the mindset of a team.

Will it be a positive or a negative?
