Yeah, the lemon wont start either.

I spent $3,800 for a 1992 pajero at the auctions.
I actually sent a mate in to bid for a car,[ to keep a low profile as when
the sharks see me bidding at the auction they try and outbid me.]
Anyway the mate got his notes wrong and bid for the wrong car.
Instead of a sleek 4 cylinder I ended up with a monster.
And it wont start.
If you think bananas are expensive, lemons are worse

This was a gamble , hence MT79 put it in this room

PS anyone wanna buy it %^%$%#$%%#%&*&

You need to choose your mates wisely...
You should've got a pro (ie me) down there.

DUTCHY just going through a tough time financially due to work constraints.
The bills are mounting as always and in all sincereness have been paying them
off because of some good punting.
Well my mate and I viewed a slinky looking 1999 Festiva trio a tidy 4 cylinder with
a reserve of $3800 and decided to bid for it on the wednesday auction.
The plan was to buy sell and profit about $1.5 k.

The plan was according and then the car before the Trio was this big green 4WD
a Pajero which another mate of mine said had no reserve and might go cheap.
I heAR that all the time at the car auctions.
Anyhows the bidding is hovering in the low $3k's and i asked my mate, geez theres
a few guys bidding and joke " It would be a good buy"
The mate says " i like it MAL "
I say " shall we go for it ."
mate says " why not."
i say " lets wait"[ meaning lets wait for the trio]
he waits for the 2nd hammer bang and puts up our bidding card and WINS !!!!!!!!!!
We had our wires crossed.
we bid $3,500 thre is a a auction fee on top ...cost $3.8 k

Later we inspected our new pride and joy, and it has a flat battery .......

MT79 who rocked up absolutely pissed himself laughing

Mrs Mal wanted the Trio a 4 cylinder, tidy, easy to sell and i have to pick up
a Pajero jeep a veritable monster.

Now to sell it. :?:

$4250 all up spent on the lemon all up including petrol etc.

My mate used the Jeep for trade bait on this Ford Ute he was buying.
The caryard employee took the car for a spin, and later another guy
took it around the block [tues 28/9].
The proffessionals said the brakes were rooted, the Discs were worn ,the pads
were warped and also said the diff was suspect.
We were offered $3k on the lemon as a trade in.
We talked them up to $4 or no deal
We took the car away to a mechanic who gave us a damage assessment.
Thursday 29/9 the assessment was bleak, the total quote for the brakes, diff,
exhaust pipe was no change from $2k
To cut a long story short we got $4,480 only because the mate bought the car
and put in on hire purchase.
The guys at G/C Motors were fantastic about the trade in, we got outa trouble.

We made about $230 profit from our venture, a profit of $115 each !~~!!
$4250= $4480

We backed a 1/20 winner, BAYMAN would be proud of us taking long odds on.

Do I do it again, nah leave it to the car sharks.

Good investing mal.

$115 return each on investment.
Bought 14/9 sold 29/9
2 weeks work.
2 weeks petrol @ $1.20 litre.
Running around for quotes on repairs.
Running around to 'trade-in' assesments.

The follow up
Then 3 of us went into buying cars, which included a mechanic
We bought a Fairlane from Berri $1000
We also bought a Motor bike at Auction $2900
We also spent about a grand repairing both
I bought the cars and financed the repairs
The 3rd partner disapeered along with the bike
I was left with the Fairlane that I sold to the wreckers for $300

I outlayed just over 5 grand and got back $300
Pricks ripped me off

My buying and selling career finished then
