Bit disappointing I would think, even if they built it up a little bit it would be great for SANFL and AFLW night games

Stays.

New stand / development aims to bring capacity to 12,000. There will be temporary structures on the outer for AFLW games.

Awful timing, similar but different to Thilthorpe.

Lord was on the cusp of pushing Dixon or Finlayson out of the side, slightly different for Thilthorpe who doesn't have the competition for a spot like Lord does but both looked like that in their 4th year at AFL level to really make their mark and now both will be playing catch up in the second half of the year. Both really can't expect to get much out of this year unless their side goes deep into the finals.

Miss 10-12, 2-3 getting fit, 2-3 in the SANFL, probably round 16-18 before we see them back.

Makes selection easier for Hinkley and Co, they don't have to worry about potentially leaving out those two you mentioned out now.

Fremantle vs Brisbane 40k
Port vs West Coast 33k

Both played interstate teams with supporters that wouldnt be travelling.,
Both had crap Sunday time slots, Ports probably marginally better.
Port wouldve had higher expectations of the season ahead and certain to win, Freo supporters probably thought it would be a loss.

Freo just a franchise with no history and no success ever. Port with one flag 20 years ago, should have translated to alot more memberships and spectators 20 years on when the impressionable kids of the time can now financially become members.

On all measurements you would expect Port to draw a bigger crowd.
I dont think the old us vs them mentality is helping grow their club.
This is not a new problem for Port, they just dont appeal to most South Australians.

I wonder if that number would vary, if changes were made off field...

This week Travis Boak plays his 350th AFL game joining Eddie Betts and Doug Hawkins on 350 games, equal 21st on the all time list. If he plays the rest of the year he'll be just outside top 10 all time games played.

He's had the most-ever disposals in AFL games played outside Victoria (6377)

Of the 214 other players Port has had play at AFL level, Travis has played a game with 147 of them.

Port Adelaide captain: 2013–2018
Port Adelaide AFL games record holder
3× All-Australian team: 2013, 2014, 2020
2× John Cahill Medal: 2011, 2019
3× Showdown Medal: 2013 (game 1), 2020, 2021 (game 1)
AFL Rising Star nominee: 2007

Fair analysis.

However consider this:

Population of greater perth - 2.2m
Population of greater adelaide - 1.4m

(33/1400) / (40/2200) = 1.296

Proportionally, Port drew 29.6% more of the available people to their game than Freo.

Good, ordinary player.

Probably one of the few I would have liked to play for us from Port, great clubman and I’m told an even better bloke. Has had a stellar career and deserves the accolades he is getting.
