Genuinely baffles me how they don't kick a normal drop punt. Thank God we won cause I would've gone berserk

It's insane, it's the first thing we're taught as a kid

It's absurd. Being involved with junior footy, I'm really glad these guys stuff up these kicks. It reinforces my thoughts that you need to learn how to kick drop punts at goal from any angle.

Would actually be interesting to see what the % of kicks missed. Lets not kids ourselves kicking drop punts at goals was one of the skills that hadnt improved in the last 30 years of the game.

The snapped kick has undoubtedly improved goal kicking when it comes to kicks from pockets. Goals that Daicos kicked which were considered out of this world are pretty standard practise these days.

Because it's not taught properly/practiced properly or players aren't taught a routine? Any of those can be contributing factors.

I am a firm believer that, given time, you can teach anyone to kick a drop punt for goal from 30/40m out. I think what people have done is say 'it's too hard, so we won't bother any more'. It'd be like using a putter off the green because chipping it is too difficult to master.

Tom Green tweaked his hammy at training on Thursday and will miss against Adelaide.

Massive boost for the Crows.
