It's an actual rule in the AFLW, I thought it would be a wind related thing as the aim is 18 metres to the drop point from a throw in for AFL boundary umpires.

I seen it's an official rule for the the boundary umpires in AFLW to come in 10 metres, perhaps to get it further away from the boundary?

Boundary throw-ins
Boundary throw-ins happen 10m inside the boundary line, with the aim of landing approximately 25m into the field of play. The aim of this is to create more space for players either side of the contest and minimise secondary stoppages.

There are very challenging standards that are required to be met to be an AFL boundary umpire, it's something like 5km time trials inside 17 minutes or something alike, they cover far more ground than field umpires per game, they are super fit so I should imagine the guidelines for AFLW wouldn't be much less.

Some of the goals kicked by the chicks last weekend were very good. The match winning goal by the Collingwood girl was awesome.

Agree, the better teams (current top are excellent to watch IMO, just don't try to compare it to the men's game and enjoy it for what it is.

It does drop away quickly with the bottom/new teams, and that is the issue with quick expansion, while the benefits are not seen on field I'm sure there are great off field stories at these clubs,
