They will no doubt take a hit like all clubs but surely with their very good membership numbers their books aren’t in diabolical state?

both clubs are massively reliant on AO revenue

Not the Crows. They were doing just fine at Footy Park.

AGM streamed tonight with Koch updating members on the financials of 2020.
Surely the Oracle knows these figures before they are released to the plebs ;)

What ??? Social media

Finger on the pulse as always Mr Boon.

https://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/ ... thank-you-

It’s was in Richos “letter from the ceo” to his members quoted on this page.

We will have you that info to you by January.

Unlike a PAFC official to over promise and under deliver.

Great start Richo setting out the expectations for his members early. :-) :-)

COVID-19 became the greatest financial threat in the club’s history and, as a result, we were forced to make some extremely tough decisions through 2020, which sadly meant farewelling some fantastic Port Adelaide people,” Mr Koch said.

“That was a horrible reality for us in 2020 and it is a challenge the whole industry has had to deal with, but decisions needed to be made to ensure our club was positioned to come through this extremely challenging time.”

After taking in to account one-off COVID-19 related and restructuring costs of $1.186m, depreciation and non-cash balance sheet adjustments, the Port Adelaide Football Club incurred a statutory loss of $4,040,579.

As a result, the club finished the season with additional borrowings of $4.275 million, increasing its overall debt position to $12 million”

Port are now in more debt than the SANFL and the 8 clubs combined.

And the money they owe sanfl for their licence isn’t included in the $12 mill.

History has a way of repeating itself they say :-)

I don't mind setting goals, but you have to weight up whether they are realistic or not.

3 flags? Unlikely, but not impossible and this puts the heat on coaches and players. Don't mind it.

100,000 members? Unlikely, full stop.

Eliminate debt? Going to be bloody hard, but this puts the heat on administration and senior management. Don't mind it.

The membership number means diddley squat at times. Baby memberships, Pets etc.. They all raise revenue and are an indicator of support.

A former Port board member tells me that at the AGM on Friday, long time member Trevor Thiele lost the members election which was a surprise.

The board appointed a non football business person to the other vacancy which is a sign of the times.

The thing is - if by the end of 2025, Port has won 1 premiership, increased it's membership number to 70,000, added an AFLw side, and reduced it's debt to under $2m, is it a failure?
