No chance.Players will want 6 weeks to get up and going before the games start, that won't start until the government lift rules on gatherings.
Let's say August 1 they lift rules on gatherings, 6 weeks later we're mid September and about to play round 2 about 12-14 weeks from Xmas.
Even if they crammed three games per week with one mid week game + finals it wouldn't be done by Xmas.
If they're not training in groups by July 1 we're not playing.

They were able to keep going longer than most so it makes sense they will be able to return quicker than other areas.
I wonder if clubs have thought about infecting all their players with rona now? They could be up and running within a month to 6 weeks

I think the NRL will go ahead. They need to play more than any other comp due to financial pressures. Their plan to play all their games for 6 months out of a remote mining village has some merits and with a bit more planning could be a very real optiondaysofourlives wrote:The AFL will be the only comp that plays this year.

They have picked out a unused mining town in Queensland that is out in the middle of nowhere and has housing for over 2000 people. It has pools and gyms aswell as a large medical facility. They have already played a NRL trial game up there before and the NRL’s plan was to house all teams, broadcasters and staff up there for 6 months and play all the games cut off from the rest of the world. They are still investigating whether it’s possible or notLightning McQueen wrote:Jim05 wrote:I think the NRL will go ahead. They need to play more than any other comp due to financial pressures. Who let Danky get Daisys login details???
There is some merit in what he's saying clinically - expose them to the virus now, let them get over it and then they are good to go.
However the real risk is some AFL player will get a complication or require hospitalisation because of it being exposed to the virus (unlikey to get a death in that population with their level of fitness put it is a potential risk). The legal ramifications of an employer knowing infecting an employee with an infective agent are the stuff of a civil lawyers wet dreams...
Seven figure lawsuit coming up.

Its an interesting morale debate isnt it moreso in terms of general society.
I personally would be open to the idea of having a deliberately injected shot if that meant there was potentially we all get out of this mess quicker. If this was a way to ensure that would happen i would be happy to sign any 'waivers' etc.
Im 35 fairly fit with no medical history whatso ever.

Coupled with the information you may ( in some cases ) be able to contract the virus more than once the idea of a club deliberately infecting their most valuable asset isn't one worth giving consideration.
