Tony Jones on Footy Classified "Why can't Port Adelaide wear their Prison Bar jumper, I mean, they didn't just become Port Adelaide when they joined the AFL"

Port Adelaide’s AFL audited member number in 2020 finished at 46,820, down 5,131 (10.3%) from 50,951 in 2019.

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas thanked the entire club membership base for their support in such a challenging year.

“We thank every one of our members who have supported the club in some way across this extraordinary season,” Mr Thomas said.

“When COVID shut down the season in March, we were about to jump into a massive 150th anniversary season and six blockbuster home games at Adelaide Oval.

“Clearly the pandemic has had a profound impact on our community, and the entire world for that matter. But the fact that 96% of our members pledged their full membership payments for 2020, with most doing so unconditionally early in the season when there was still so much uncertainty about how the season was going to unfold, is incredible.

“On top of that, Port Adelaide members and supporters have spent a further $2 million on club merchandise and memorabilia with record retail sales since June. It comes as no surprise that the Prison Bar guernsey is this seasons hottest selling item in the AFL competition, in this most special year for our club.

“Again, we simply can’t thank our members and supporters enough for doing whatever they can to help the club, when so many are enduring their own challenges. It has been amazing!”

Very consistent player and by all accounts a well rounded individual.

I think there will be a huge amount of retirements this year.

Fair ROI for Port!

Certainly got everything out of himself, classic case of a guy who works his arse off, many many more talented footballers haven't played 50 games.

Draft time is funny business. This one was a good one for Port.

In 2006 :

Pick 5 - Travis Boak - 280 games, 179 goals, 2 x AA, 2 x BnF
Pick 23 - Paul Stewart - 101 games
Pick 39 - Nathan Krakouer - 69 games, 16 goals
Pick 55 - Robbie Gray - 232 games, 331 goals, 4 x AA, 3 x BnF, 2 x Leading Goal kicker
Pick 71 - Justin Westhoff - 277 games, 312 goals, 1 x BnF

6 x AA
6 x BnF
959 games
838 goals

Good draft!

Who's our GOAT? Could Boak become it before he finishes?

Even I who dislikes Port takes my hat off for Westhoff, he has been brilliant for Port and I think a little under rated.

Enjoy retirement.

He has had some brilliant games, definitely got the best out of his Napoleon Dynamite physique.

Tredrea at this point remains our best ever at AFL level.
I wouldn't be able to split Boak/Gray/Wanganeen for second.
Primus was vastly under rated, rules were changed to prevent his dominance.

Yeah, I was tossing up between Tredders and Wangas, Gray didn't really spring to mind but he'd certainly be our most skillful player to don a guernsey.

Tredrea then daylight. Hard to ignore 4 consecutive AA gongs in the toughest position on field.

Boak will probably become clear 2nd by the time his career is done. His resurgence has been nothing short of remarkable.

Francou for mine is up there.
Very under rated player.

Studley Cornes has to be up there too.

I know he's a twat in the media, and frankly didn't think much of his later years.. but where does Kane Cornes stack up? Bloke won 4x B&F's and played 300 games.. fair effort.

Top 12 or so.

I have to agree, I rated Chad higher, Chad was a freak when they began, they even named a training drill in his honour.
