Simple question and poll: Do you think Harley Bennell will ever play another AFL game?

"He'll be back in 5 weeks".

Ross said that this week. He also said this during the 2015-16 pre-season.

A no from me.

A talent cruelled by injuries and disciplinary issues.

I think the former is a cover for the latter.

Freo don't have much depth so if they have a few injuries they may be forced to play him.

Yes for me. People forget he is only 24.

Put a kid on the Gold Coast on that type of money living with lads and from a back ground Harley has had and it's a recipe for disaster. I think he'll come good.

Spot on. Has talent and good people in place to guide him. Media love to sensationalise. Will play this year.
So much of peoples opinion is formed on BS media hype and hear say.

Bullshit media hype? We can only base our opinions on facts that have been publicized, 90+% of the AFL players seem to live their lives without drawing much attention to themselves, Harley can't keep out of the news for his indiscretions.

I was really excited at the prospect of him going to Fremantle, I hope that he can get back out on the field one day, and very soon, loved watching him when he was on song at the Suns but he needs to sort out upstairs and what he wants out of life/football.

They banned Brandon Matera from seeing him after dark when Bennell was up there recently, he incidentally got pissed on the plane trip up there too.

No coincidence it was exactly 2 years between games, didnt have to be a genius to predict that

AFL must sit back and rub their hands together at how stupid the average punter is.

The AFL are a marketing and media machine.

Still good for the kid to get his life back on track.

Hopefully bigger and better things to come for him and the Dockers next year.

Depends on the marketability of the player, they'd throw an average Joe under the bus, a marketable commodity would get every protection possible. Hello Dane Swan/Lance Franklin 2000's/James Hird late 1990's.

The mental health card gets thrown around a bit too much. Its funny how blokes get 2 strikes and then when the 3rd strike comes around their Management says it's an illness and you can't take action against a bloke who needs help. So they go on a holiday and get help...
