The Western Bulldogs look set to play at least one ( up to 3 ) games at Eureka Stadium in Ballarat next year. However, locals are questioning if the 11,000 capacity stadium would be sufficient for local Dogs fans, Melbourne based supporters and visiting team supporters.
With it a 7 hour drive from Adelaide, Port would be a chance to play there.
Along with the Gold Coast and GWS as the lower drawing clubs when travelling interstate.
@Failed Creation @valleys07 That's be a road trip.

Reckon $19 for the top 8 is more realistic for us. $1900 for the flag would be closer

I know they won it, but think automatically installing the dogs as favourites again is a bit short. They only finished seventh in the regular season. Of course they had a massive finals. Then again, they did overcome some huge injuries, so some better luck next year should see them top 4.
I reckon GWS and Sydney are the ones to beat.
The next few years has "crows losing prelims" written all over it

Maybe the players might make the trip for a game unlike the premiership celebration on Monday. Only Bevo and the cup showed up.
It was hard enough to get tickets for a NAB cup game. Stadium currently under renovation and i assume they will install temporary seating but still not big enough. Game would need to Dogs v GWS, GC, lions or Freo

Ken' oath, Boon.
When the fixture comes out, definitely keen to put together another interstate trip!

I just don't see the point playing at these shitty little venues. Surely with interest in the Dogs at a all time high they would be trying to attract as many fans as possible considering their membership and attendance figures have been shocking for years.
Rather ironic they whinged about their fans not being able to attend the final in Sydney but they want to play 3 games a year in a tinpot stadium under an hour away from their heartland that will lock 1000's of their supporters out

Or they're branching out to a growing city, under an hour away, with a view to both grow membership and attract greater crowds in Melbourne. They won't play against a club with a strong fan-base in vic there, I think it's a good move.

Etihad Stadium deal, quite simple. Why lose $100k playing GWS at Etihad when you can make $200k at Ballarat?

Correct. The sooner the AFL gets the keys to Etihad, the better.

Their deal needs about 25-30k at Etihad to break even so with the amount that jumped on their bandwagon at finals time they should have no problem attracting 40k plus each week at home now. If their fans aren't going to rock up now they never will.

I'm a tad baffled that Booney has started up a thread without getting the thesaurus out for the title

Why take that risk when you can bank $200k at Ballarat?

Think Adelaide are too short on those odds. So are WB.

And risk alienating your key supporters?
Even against low drawing teams you would think they would get 25k minimum so that's atleast 15,000 of your bread and butter customers locked out of a game. Think there would be a decrease in their top access memberships to reflect this

Yet Hawks have increased their membership by going to Tassie?

I think 3 premierships in a row might have something to do with that.
So they play 4 in Tassie, but only leave Melbourne 5 times ( in 2016, anyway ) so it's not like supporters / members are missing out.
