Seems unlikely I grant you, but, as others were turning it down, perhaps the price went up before Dutchy or Spargo were offered the gig.

HH3 would get the gig before those 2 anyway! ;)

What changed his mind? Surely wouldn't have been the challenge...why give up his cushy job in Brisbane for coaching North? $ no doubt. And plenty of them.

Is his time at the Bay the only time he’s been a senior coach?

Yep, also assistant at the Bulldogs & Crows, list manager, head of football, talent pathway coach and general manager of football.
Pretty sure he’s ready.

Well he is from Tassie...
Awww, you meant North relocating, right. Considering they’re all but debt free and about to invest another $7m on facilities upgrade at Arden St, I wouldn’t think so, Caro.

Never said anything about relocating but you are still playing 5 or 6 down there again yes?

He’s got a massive challenge in front of him but good luck to him.

Cant help but think this one has disaster written all over it. I think the horse has bolted on the unconventional rise to an AFL coach
He's hasnt been at any successful clubs.

North just need someone to bring the club together, its basically expected for the next 3 years they will be blooding a lot of youth and relying on nailing the drafts. He may not be the guy to take them into finals but he can help them get there by building the club from probably the lowest point in its history. Might not be a tactical generous but more man-management type of operator.

I think they will be terrible but they have some players to work with, nail the next couple of drafts and in 3 years they will be contending for the 8

Whilst no Premierships, the Dogs were playing Prelims when he was there, Crows made a GF when he was there & he’s overseen the rise of Brisbane in his role up there. Wherever he’s gone they’ve been pretty close.
Now he’s the number one man.

North Melbourne boss Ben Buckley :

Realistically, David has got 2-3 years to get us in a position where we're competing regularly in the top 4 and ultimately looking to win a premiership.
