Why should the AFL "help" this club??

If you can't build a place people want to stay then that is a problem that needs rectifying by you and you alone

I have a son who supports the Lions so I see a lot of their games. Luey had done nothing the past two seasons, bet they wish they kept Longer now. Adcock whilst handy last season had been on a sharp decline this year. They need to find key position players and the only way they can do that is to clear some salary cap space. Both those players would be in their top half a dozen paid players

True
These guys were virtually unbeatable just over a decade ago. Now its time for some pain. Plenty of supporters would happily take 3 consecutive flags if it meant a few years of spoons down the track

I said something similar to my mates, yes he's getting older but it is a disgrace considering the loyalty he's shown them over his career with the Lions hardly having any success during his time at the club.

I'll tell you why, Rugby League. Same reason the AFL helped out Sydney, created the Gold Coast and the Giants.

So that is the way to treat a player like Adcock who has shown the loyalty that you build football clubs on?

Trade him at the end of the year and don't let this rubbish come out. Pathetic

I don't recall seeing it said anywhere by the lions that they're actually trading him out.
News outlets have presumed but it just said they couldn't guarantee him a contract.
He may sign another 1 year deal at the end of the day.
But i do think there are others that deserved the chop before him like staker mcguane paine golby etc

he is a good enough footballer that he will get offered a decent deal at a club that needs a number 1 ruckman.

Thought he was talking about luey, whoops.

It's pretty clear that if you haven't made your mind up on a 29 year old known quantity yet that you aren't signing him

Lol, Redden was 'untouchable' last year, now he wants out. Something wrong at the Brions.

Apparently West Coast is the preferred destination for Redden.

Seems like a ready-made replacement for selwood. Redden likely would have jumped at the chance to play finals footy, given it doesnt look like happening in brisbane any time soon

That is strange. Thought being an Adelaide boy he would go home. Was mentioned that his partner either is or still lives here
