One of the greats of the VFL. Top bloke too.

Goes to show that no matter how well you look after your body, and Tommy was an absolute health and fitness freak, the big C doesn't discriminate.

Wow, what a legend. I'm not one for adding to vale threads normally but this wasn't a normal bloke.

x2.

Vale Tommy. A legend of the game, certainly a prominent figure during my childhood.

Will be as big a public reaction as EJ I reckon.

Cancer sucks! RIP Tom, a legend of the game and was the Cats coach when I started following them. I still imagine him in an Adidas T-shirt no matter how cold it was.

Very sad to lose Tommy and Reg Gasnier so close together.
The two biggest football codes have both lost a great. Sad day for Australian sport

A genuine football nice guy and great coach. I attended a sportsman's night at which he spoke many years ago & he impressed me tremendously. I could see why he was so loved & respected by his players & why he was so successful. Vale T-shirt Tommy :(
If you don’t like my words, don’t listen. If you don’t like my appearance, don’t look. If you don’t like my actions, turn your head; It’s as simple as that.

Not old enough to have seen him play but have heard a few of the stories about him, and used to enjoy him on ABC radio.

Deeply saddened by the news. A great man in football and in Life. One of only five Richmond Immortals
Coached how a coach should coach. Loved by his players and respected by foes will be sadly missed.

MAY THE TIGER ARMY BE IN FILL FORCE SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

RIP T Shirt Tommy. A coach far ahead of his time. Richmond have never really recovered since Tom was shown the door despite the 1980 flag. Only McHale, Norm Smith and Barassi can claim to be a bigger name in Australian Rules Football.

Regards,
