I didn't even realise the footy starts this week until a work colleague told me today. Looked at the NAB fixture, and there is a game every night for 18 straight nights from Wednesday.

I like it.

Will watch bits of pieces but going head to head with the cricket im going to choose the cricket over a practice match anyday.
Dont mind the concept, the NAB cup dragged on for too long.
Fans are already whingeing about the $18 entry fee and the fact its on Foxsports only but if you want to watch your side badly enough you will pay

How is it won? Just win and percentage at the end of the 18 nights? I'm guessing no finals

No winner I believe- just pure practice games.

It's about time too. They're just glorified scratch matches to me.

What's the Challenge in Nab Challenge stand for then?

It's probably just a fancy way of trying to make it sound meaningful, and not just a little cash grab for the AFL.

Us Fantasy nerds are keen. Especially as there doesn't appear to be much value, particularly in the backline. I can see many teams starting with KK and McDonald in the back six. Cats v Pies opener should be good with both clubs even at full strength going in younger than in previous seasons. Our kids need to dominate their kids pronto.

REB

will provide more interest than the previous system of the short games imo. and having footy on every day is cool.

Shit concept, worse than the triple-headers of last year.

Why not let each club just decide amongst themselves how many games they wish to play and they work it out where they play?

For instance, you would think the clubs who played deep into finals last year may want an extra hitout to expose their younger brigades to the level, while teams in the middle of the ladder who pretty much know their side might not want to play as many games externally, one or two trails with a couple of intra club matches being sufficient. I would think all clubs would have a different idea as to what is best for them and their squads through February.

I think, IIRC, Adelaide will play 3 games in 15 days then will have 21 days from their last NAB match to Round 1 against Geelong. That's hardly ideal*?

*Like I give a rats toss bag.. ;)

At least they aren't pretending that they are nothing more than practice matches.
